In short
Taepung Gopchang (태풍곱창) is a grilled gopchang (beef intestine) and gopchang hot pot restaurant on Dongcheon-ro 107beon-gil in Seomyeon, Busan. Ordered as a grill-and-hot-pot set at an outdoor table, the gopchang came as thick as daechang (beef large intestine), and the single-serving hot pot was packed with gopchang, daechang, glass noodles and vegetables. Taepung Gopchang is worth a spot on any list of best restaurants in Busan for a night of gopchang and soju in Seomyeon.

Trying to figure out dinner in Seomyeon, and Busan means gopchang (beef intestine), right! So off I went to eat gopchang! Seomyeon has so many good restaurants that I was torn on where to go, but this time I visited Taepung Gopchang. The visuals alone are hard to pass up if you like gopchang, so I went in with high expectations haha.

What Taepung Gopchang, a Seomyeon gopchang spot, feels like
Walking into Taepung Gopchang, it was cleaner and more comfortable than I expected. I basically showed up right at opening haha.

The Taepung Gopchang menu: grilled gopchang and gopchang hot pot
What I liked about this Seomyeon gopchang spot is that it's not just gopchang — there's also gopchang hot pot and nakgopsae (octopus, intestine, and shrimp stir-fry), so you can pick based on your mood. I couldn't give up either the grill or the hot pot, so I ordered both! There's also a side menu like gopchang stone-plate jjajang, and the price is really good value too!

Why go now: outdoor tables in Seomyeon
There's an outdoor seating area, yajang, where you can feel that cool breeze!! I actually ate the grilled gopchang and hot pot at an outdoor table that day, and it wasn't hot at all — just cool and pleasant, which made the gopchang taste even better. Autumn, please take your time leaving~~

Ordering by tablet, and how the set gets you a single-serving hot pot
You order using the tablet at each table. If you order the grill menu or the hot pot menu alone, it starts at 2 servings, but if you order the grill and hot pot together as a set, you can get just 1 serving of the hot pot!

What side dishes come with it?
After ordering the grilled gopchang and hot pot, the side dishes were set out first. Taepung Gopchang, a Seomyeon favorite, is impressive even before the main dishes arrive. From gopchang sauce to salted seafood, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), cucumber-doenjang, and corn mayo — I've never seen a gopchang restaurant with such a well put-together basic spread!

Taepung Gopchang's gopchang hot pot: one serving, still generous
The gopchang hot pot arrived first. The Taepung Gopchang hot pot in Seomyeon came out so generously loaded you'd never believe it was just one serving!! Packed inside were plenty of vegetables, glass noodles, gopchang, and dae-chang (thick intestine)!!!

With so much gopchang packed into the hot pot, the Korean beef intestine simmered together with vegetables made a broth that was deep and spicy — the kind that has you pouring soju endlessly. Turns out Taepung Gopchang is actually pretty famous in Busan for its gopchang hot pot!

Both the hot pot and grilled gopchang had arrived. We ordered the grill and hot pot together, and the owner carefully set everything up for easy reach haha. The staff and owner at this Seomyeon favorite were genuinely kind!! I was won over all over again by how friendly they were. Both the grilled gopchang and the hot pot are truly delicious, so if you go with two people, definitely order the set menu and try both!!!

How thick is the grilled gopchang?
The gopchang looked impressive from the start. The Taepung Gopchang portions in Seomyeon are enormous — practically dae-chang-thick. Watching it grill to a golden brown, the smell alone made me want to dig in right away.

Gopchang is best when the outside is golden and crisp while the inside keeps that savory, nutty flavor! One bite and that signature gopchang richness really came through. Underneath the gopchang, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, bracken fern, bean sprouts, kimchi, and more vegetables were grilling away too, soaking up the gopchang fat — the vegetables at this Busan gopchang favorite were genuinely delicious too.

First bite: the heart. Chewy, with zero gamey smell — really good.

I tried the gopchang plain first, then dipped in sauce, then with the side accompaniments — I kept reaching for more. Especially with a drink, it would honestly disappear in no time haha. Gopchang can get a bit rich after a while, but with all the side dishes to mix things up, it stayed enjoyable bite after bite!!
Is Taepung Gopchang worth it for gopchang in Seomyeon?
If you're looking for a dinner spot with friends in Seomyeon, or just want gopchang with a shot of soju, give Taepung Gopchang a try! Great atmosphere, and genuinely fresh gopchang.
