Monday-night Korean BBQ with free corkage at Anmin Busan, Seomyeon

In short

Anmin Busan is a staff-grilled Korean BBQ restaurant a five-minute walk from Seomyeon subway station in Busanjin, Busan. Even on a Monday evening there was a wait, so a phone reservation secured a two-person bar table for the half whole-pig set (450g, ₩41,000) and spicy soybean paste stew with crab, while staff grilled and plated the pork belly, pork neck, and herbal pork rind tableside. With free corkage and room seating available, it's a solid pick for group dinners and gatherings too.

I made plans to meet a friend after a long while. While I was wondering where to eat dinner so it'd become the talk of the town, Anmin Busan popped straight into my head.

There was a wait even on a Monday evening — reservations are a must

I visited Anmin Busan on a Monday, and there was already a wait from early evening — can you believe it? If there's a wait, you register on Catch Table and wait your turn. If you're visiting for a gathering or company dinner, I'd definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve!

Store entrance with waiting notice

I'd reserved ahead, so I was seated without waiting at all. The moment I stepped inside, the upscale interior caught my eye right away.

A bar table for two where they grill right in front of you

Honestly, this is the first BBQ place I've been to with such flashy, polished interiors. Since I'd booked for two, they seated us at a bar table where you can watch the meat being grilled right before your eyes.

No need to hand over your phone somewhere to charge if the battery's low. There's a charging outlet right at your seat! First time I've seen that at a BBQ place, seriously.

As if to prove they only use fresh meat, there's a meat fridge visible right there for customers seated at the table to see. Just looking at it, you could tell the quality was good.

Ordering was easy via the tablet on the table, and beyond the meat, there was such a wide range of meal items — soybean paste rice in a hot pot, spicy soybean paste stew, earthenware soft tofu stew, Mashitte soy ramen, Mashitte cold ramen, Mashitte golbimmyeon, white cheese fried rice, sweet rice scorched-rice soup — it was great. I don't think you'd need to worry about meal options even if you came with kids.

The basic side-dish spread

Here's how the basic table setup at Anmin Busan looks. Shiitake wasabi sauce, seasoned hairtail intestine jeotgal, fish sauce dip, cheese fondue sauce, seasonal pickles, green onion kimchi, ssamjang with lettuce wraps, cabbage salad, washed kimchi, citron-ginger relish, garlic pickle — the side dishes and sauces come generously packed.

The half whole-pig set: 450g is plenty for two

I ordered the half whole-pig set. At 450g, it was more than enough for two.

When it comes to staff-grilled BBQ in Seomyeon, Anmin Busan really is the best. Watching them grill it deliciously right in front of you makes your mouth water so much.

After grilling the pork belly, pork neck, and pork rind to perfection, they even plate it nicely and bring it to you. Drool-worthy, seriously 😎

Plated grilled pork belly, pork neck, and pork rind

It's a set menu where you get to try Anmin's signature pork belly and pork neck along with herbal pork rind seasoned with various medicinal herbs. The visuals are amazing, right?

Grilled meat from the half whole-pig set

Oh my gosh, it's been so long since I've had pork belly like this. The thick fresh pork belly had such great texture, and one bite released so much juice.

I dipped it in salt to enjoy the meat's natural flavor. They say the tastiest meat is the kind you can enjoy with just salt. Need I say more — it was just so delicious.

For the pork neck, I dipped it in Anmin's special shiitake wasabi sauce. The shiitake flavor was so pronounced it blended beautifully with the meat.

The herbal pork rind my friend praised

The meat was so good, but my friend praised the pork rind as being really delicious. Since it's herbal pork rind seasoned with various medicinal ingredients, it didn't taste like ordinary pork rind at all. It's a chewy, delicious pork rind packed with the flavor and aroma of the herbs.

Can't forget the lettuce wraps when eating meat. The meat was so good that even wrapped plain with nothing added, it was still delicious.

Free corkage, plus a wide range of drinks and highballs

Today was a meal without alcohol. Cheers with soda instead ✨ There was really a wide variety of alcohol and highballs available. I'll have to come back next time for meat and highballs. And if you're planning to bring your own bottle, pay attention — Anmin Busan offers free corkage, so it's ₩0.

Finishing the meal with spicy soybean paste crab stew

There were so many meal options I agonized over it for a while, but after eating meat, soybean paste stew and rice really are a must.

I ordered the spicy soybean paste crab stew, which comes with apple snails, chewy hand-torn dumpling dough, and a whole yellow crab. The stew had a savory, spicy kick that was excellent — I cleaned a whole bowl of rice.

How was it as a spot for company dinners and gatherings?

The meat was delicious, sure, but the interior was so upscale and pretty, and since they grill and plate everything for you, we could enjoy the meat really comfortably. You want pork belly, but grilling it yourself is such a hassle, right? The prices were reasonable too, and the staff were so kind that we felt taken care of throughout the whole meal. With free corkage and room seating available, it seems like the perfect spot for a group dinner or gathering. If you're looking for a great BBQ restaurant in Seomyeon, I recommend Anmin Busan 👍
