Where is Hets Jeonpo Branch, and what are its hours?
Hets Jeonpo Branch is a tonkatsu restaurant at 27 Jeonpo-daero, 2nd floor, unit 201, Busanjin-gu, Busan (675-5 Jeonpo-dong), a 297m walk from Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station. It's open daily from 11:10 to 20:30, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:00.
I was craving tonkatsu right at dinner time today, so I went to Hets Jeonpo Branch, a famous tonkatsu spot in Jeonpo haha.

It's on the first floor of the building, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make it easy to spot from outside. Being right near Jeonpo Station and having the 'HETZ' sign catch your eye, it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit.

Is there a wait at Hets Jeonpo Branch in the evening?
I went right at dinner time, and since it's such a well-known place I worried it'd be crowded, but that worry was unnecessary — I got in right away ✌🏻

Once inside, the space was bigger and cleaner than I expected. It was so tidy I almost wondered if this was really a tonkatsu place! The white-and-metal interior stood out overall, and the open kitchen and dining space were neatly arranged so you could watch the katsu being fried right in front of you. Since it's all counter seating, it's not intimidating to visit solo either, and it felt like a space that would suit anyone looking for a good tonkatsu restaurant in Jeonpo-dong. I sat down, curious what the tonkatsu at this Jeonpo favorite would taste like 🥢✨

Hets Jeonpo Branch menu and the limited sang loin katsu
Hets Jeonpo Branch has store-limited items — Jeju black pork sang loin katsu and YBD sang loin katsu — but both were sold out when I visited (sad). Otherwise there's Jeju black pork loin katsu, hire katsu (tenderloin cutlet), loin katsu, and assorted katsu mixing hire and loin, plus side dishes like ro-sando and hire-sando (cutlet sandwiches). If you write a review, they give you 2pcs of boneless gara-age (Japanese-style fried chicken)!

The table sauces include whole black pepper, salad sauce, truffle oil, and wasabi. I mainly used the black pepper, salad sauce, and wasabi — and this salad sauce in particular is rumored to be addictive.

Song request event and other services at Hets Jeonpo Branch
A special event at Hets Jeonpo Branch!! You write the song you want to hear on a piece of paper here, and the staff will play whatever song it is!! 🎶 Getting to eat while your favorite song plays through the whole restaurant... that's just amazing~~!

At Hets Jeonpo Branch, police officers, national merit recipients, service members, firefighters, exam-takers, and pregnant women get meat curry, 2pcs of boneless gara-age, and various drinks haha. I especially think this is well deserved for national merit recipients and hardworking public servants.

Baby chairs are provided for those coming with family, so couples visiting with little ones can feel at ease at Hets too~

There are coat hangers here so you can hang up jackets and outerwear. Aprons are also provided, feel free to use them.

Hets Jeonpo Branch's own personal goods were displayed here too. That's the pen for writing song requests over there! Ask a staff member if you'd like to purchase any, they can help.

How the YBD loin katsu tastes, and the order to eat it in
The YBD loin katsu I'd been waiting for finally arrived. The crispy fried cutlet was neatly plated, with rice, cabbage salad, and sauces served alongside. Looking at the cross-section of the cutlet — crispy outside, juicy and moist inside — it looked delicious just from the sight of it.

I sprinkled black pepper first and lifted a piece with my chopsticks — the thickness was quite good. The breading wasn't too thick, just crispy, and the meat inside felt soft and juicy! One bite in, the combination of the crispy breading and the clean-tasting meat worked really well together.

I tried putting a bit of wasabi right on top of the cutlet. It felt different from just dipping it in sauce — the sharp kick of the wasabi cut through the richness of the tonkatsu, and personally it worked quite well together. I'd recommend trying it plain first, then adding wasabi partway through.

Free rice and cabbage salad refills at Hets Jeonpo Branch
I got so caught up eating that I finished off the rice and the salad with its delicious sauce, and when I asked for a refill, the staff told me I could have even more (do I look like a big eater...)

I ended up scraping the plate completely clean eating this happily. Might not even need to wash the dishes lol. It was a meal I could enjoy cleanly from start to finish, and I found myself thinking I'd want to come back here whenever I'm craving proper tonkatsu in Jeonpo, Busan.
Crispy breading, juicy and thick meat, plus wasabi to enjoy it in different ways — that's Hets Jeonpo Branch 🍽️ The overall clean atmosphere of the restaurant was great, and it was a satisfying, filling meal.
