Lately I've been craving beef more than pork belly for some reason haha. So I went to Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch, a beef restaurant near Maebong Station. I loved that you can try several cuts at once with the assorted platter, but what really made me happy was that the beef that day was tender across the board 🤎

Where is Woosang Hwarogui Maebong Station Branch, and what is the room like?

Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch is at 26 Nonhyeon-ro 34-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Walking in, the place felt clean and comfortable overall. Not too loud or chaotic — more the kind of vibe where you can chat while grilling meat, so it'd work well for a date or dinner spot too.

On beef days I usually get overly careful about picking the menu, but here ordering the assorted platter lets you try several cuts in sequence, so we went straight for the combo without hesitation 😊

What I really thought was a nice touch — as soon as we sat down they brought us a warm hand towel, and that felt so good 🥹 There were curtains too, so we could eat more privately.

We ordered the assorted platter (상 모둠한판) for ₩85,000.

The 85,000-won assorted platter with three beef cuts laid out

It comes with chamjinsal 130g + angeomisal 130g + gadakgalbi 150g, along with a grilled vegetable assortment and a pile of green onions. We also ordered doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) for ₩11,000 and some Jinro soju! Since the platter comes with several cuts prepared right from the start, it looked like a proper feast from the moment it arrived.

The side dishes at Woosang Hwarogui were good on their own

Before the meat came out, we tried the side dishes one by one, and honestly they were way more delicious than expected — I kept reaching for more haha. There was pickled gochujang chili, gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), baek kimchi (white kimchi), and doenjang-tossed peppers among others, and every single one paired well with the meat 🤎

The pickled gochujang chili especially worked great with a bite of meat — spicy and tangy at the same time. The gat kimchi and baek kimchi were also delicious, so I kept picking at the sides while waiting for the meat haha. The doenjang-tossed peppers were salty with a savory depth that was oddly addictive. I used to think a beef restaurant just needs good meat, but having such good side dishes too made the whole meal even more satisfying 😊

🥢 A place where I kept reaching for the side dishes even before the meat arrived haha

First cut: grilling the chamjinsal

They grilled the chamjinsal first. As the meat cooked over the charcoal, the smell of grilling beef drifted up — you just can't resist that haha. I took a bite and the meat was truly tender 🩷

Beef really does taste best grilled just right instead of overcooked, right?! I took a bite and it was way more tender than I expected. The meat itself wasn't chewy at all — soft, with a savory flavor that came through more the more I chewed it. If you love beef, this kind of tender texture is the kind you keep reaching for!

A perfectly grilled piece of chamjinsal

No toughness at all, just a soft chew that let the meat's own flavor come through clearly — a satisfying first cut. It's fun how each beef cut has a slightly different texture. So after the chamjinsal, we moved right on to the next cut.

A tall pile of sliced green onions

The pile of green onion served alongside

True to its name, they finely sliced green onions and stacked them up like a tower — fun just to look at haha. Dipping the green onion pile in the sauce made for a surprisingly good side treat. Eating meat non-stop can get a bit greasy, but the green onions cleansed the palate and paired well with the meat.

Second cut: angeomisal

We grilled and ate the angeomisal too, and it was also tender and delicious. I usually get tired of meat quickly if it's too chewy or dry, but this day the fun of trying different cuts kept me eating happily throughout. Going chamjinsal → angeomisal in order, I could really feel the difference in texture between each, and that was great.

Even though it's all beef, each cut has slightly different texture and flavor, so grilling them one by one was fun. When eating meat, I prefer trying one cut at a time rather than grilling everything at once, and eating them in order like this made the differences stand out even more!!

Last cut: gadakgalbi

And the last one we ate was gadakgalbi. Personally, all the cuts that day were so tender overall that I enjoyed eating right up to the very end 🤎

Ordering one assorted platter and grilling three cuts in sequence let us enjoy a much more varied meal than just eating one type of meat.

Doenjang sulbap for 11,000 won to finish

We couldn't just end the meal after all that meat, so we ordered doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice). What can I even say about this one... haha. The savory doenjang base with rice was the perfect finish after all that meat. Even though I was already pretty full from the beef, the doenjang sulbap somehow just kept going in??

Finishing with warm doenjang sulbap at the end really made it feel like a proper full meal haha. I guess doenjang jjigae or doenjang sulbap really is a must at a meat restaurant 😋

Soy sauce egg rice from the Naver review event

And we also got soy sauce egg rice from the Naver review event :) With the egg yolk perched on top and furikake sprinkled over it, it looked exactly like the kind of thing I love haha. Popping the yolk and mixing it into the rice, the salty flavor of the soy sauce combined with the furikake made for a nicer surprise than I expected.

It was delicious alongside the meat, and just as good at the end when you're craving rice!! It had a different feel from the doenjang sulbap, so ordering both and sharing let us try a little of everything, which was great 🤍

Olive oil ice cream: dessert at Woosang Hwarogui

Excellent ice cream served as dessert

At the end, they served Excellent ice cream topped with a drizzle of olive oil, pepper, and salt as dessert 🤩 The sweet, soft ice cream got an extra depth from the olive oil, and with a touch of pepper and salt, the sweetness actually felt more pronounced?! Finishing off the meat with a cold, sweet ice cream made for a happy ending to the meal :)

Personally, getting a dessert like this just makes me happy for no reason haha.

Final verdict — worth it for a three-cut beef dinner in Gangnam

This visit to Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch was great because the assorted platter let us try several beef cuts at once. We went from chamjinsal to angeomisal to gadakgalbi in order, but what satisfied me most was that the beef was tender and delicious across the board.

On top of that, having the green onion pile and doenjang sulbap made the meal filling, and getting the Excellent ice cream at the end made it feel like a properly complete meal from start to finish haha. If you're looking for a good beef restaurant near Maebong Station, or want to try several cuts in one sitting, ordering the assorted platter seems like a great choice 🥩🤎 I left that day having thoroughly enjoyed the meat, rice, and dessert, and I was very satisfied haha.
