Korean BBQ with private booths and colkage-free wine, Gangnam Seoul
In short
Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch is a private charcoal beef BBQ restaurant tucked in an alley between Maebong Station and Yangjaecheon Stream in Gangnam, Seoul. Two diners shared the 'Sang Assorted Platter' of chamjinsal, angeomisal, and gadakgalbi with a pile of scallions and beef doenjang ramyeon, finishing with an olive oil, salt, and pepper ice cream. With booth-style private seating and corkage-free policy, it's a great spot for a quiet after-work date.

You know those days when you clock out of work and your energy just drops to 0%, and you think, "Okay, today I absolutely need real meat and something cold to drink"?

So the place my companion and I dashed to right after work was 'Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch,' hidden in an alley near Maebong Station and Yangjaecheon Stream! The aura hits you right from the entrance — let me give you the honest review, so charge up your wallets and follow along haha.

The alley exterior and private seating
The location isn't on a big main street — it's tucked quietly into a neighborhood alley. But this hidden vibe is honestly insane haha. Turning the corner in the alley and seeing that warm orange sign glow... just looking at it screams "this is definitely a Maebong Station must-visit spot"!!

It kind of feels like being Goro-san, the main character from the famous Japanese drama <Solitary Gourmet> haha. Dragging my exhausted after-work body into a secret spot only I know about — my emotional battery was already charged before I even walked in!!

What I liked most once inside was the seating layout! The hall seating wasn't just open — everything was divided into booths, giving it a proper private feel. There are also room-style and semi-curtained room options, making it a perfect spot for a couple's date near Yangjaecheon or a quiet gathering.
On top of that, calm music was playing in the restaurant, with none of that chaotic, noisy vibe you usually get at charcoal BBQ places!! I couldn't stop noticing every little detail of the interior haha — is it even allowed for a BBQ place to be this nice?! Once seated, they gave us warm hand towels, and wiping my hands with that lovely-smelling warm towel already had me feeling great before the meal even started!!
Menu and corkage-free policy

The main menu ranges from set combos to à la carte, and there's also a lunch menu, but I heard lunch isn't always open depending on the day, so definitely call ahead before visiting!!
The drink lineup is so extensive it's like, how could you NOT find something you like here haha. And by the way, they're corkage-free, so bringing along a nice bottle of wine or whisky you've been saving at home and pairing it here sounds like actual heaven (next time I'm leaving the car and cracking open a bottle of wine...).
Origin verification, all checked!!
Banchan and the Sang Assorted Platter feast

The banchan (side dishes) were neatly prepared too — got-kimchi, washed aged kimchi, seasoned chili peppers, celery pickles, bread salad, and garlic stem + chili pickles. All perfectly paired to go with meat haha.

Salt, wasabi, and shiitake wasabi sauce — perfection!!
I love a good instructional sign like this haha. I'm exactly the type of person who reads it carefully and follows it to the letter!

Enter the piping hot charcoal fire!!

Today's main event, the Sang[賞] Assorted Platter, makes its entrance!! Chamjinsal (130g) + angeomisal (130g) + gadakgalbi (150g), plus grilled assorted vegetables and a pile of scallions — the spread is beyond generous, it's downright commanding.
Gotta show off the pretty plating one more time!!!
Chamjinsal — the first bite dipped in just salt
Started grilling with chamjinsal first haha. No exaggeration, every time we flipped a piece, the two of us kept going "whoa... whoa..." over and over haha. The heat was just right — not too strong, not too weak — sealing in the juices while browning it perfectly,
and the very first bite went in with just a dip of salt !! It melted the second it hit my mouth, barely needing to chew ㅠㅠ The moment we tasted it, we both went "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" so good it's insane >_< haha, our true feelings just came pouring out haha.

The signature scallion pile
And then Woosang's signature scallion pile haha. Nervous it would tip over while being served, so we knocked it down ourselves before it could fall over!!

Grill and eat, grill and eat!! The scallions were refreshing and paired amazingly with the meat, so we couldn't stop eating them!!
At some point I couldn't hold back anymore and ordered soju haha. And they gave us hovenia (heotgae) sticks along with it — what a thoughtful touch!!!!

Angeomisal, gadakgalbi, and passion fruit ade
Next up, angeomisal (hanging tender)!! If chamjinsal wowed us with its marbled richness, angeomisal was all about deep meaty flavor — so tender it paired perfectly with the wasabi or shiitake wasabi sauce !!!!!
And finally, gadakgalbi!! It's a rib cut, and honestly, there are no words !! The savory rib flavor practically opened up heaven in my mouth.
Since my companion was driving that day, they ordered passion fruit ade instead of alcohol — you have to try this!! The pop of passion fruit seeds combined with the refreshing sweet-tart flavor cuts right through the richness of the meat, working as the perfect palate cleanser!!

The closing meal: beef doenjang ramyeon
After thoroughly demolishing the meat, of course we finished with the K-dessert equivalent haha. We ordered the beef doenjang ramyeon (soybean paste noodle soup) + rice combo! The savory, rich doenjang broth loaded with beef had incredible depth of flavor haha. Slurp up the noodles while they're still springy, then mix the rice into the leftover broth for one last spoonful... and all the day's fatigue just melts away! (The generosity that only carbs can give haha.)
A legendary dessert: olive oil, salt, and pepper ice cream
But the real legendary finale was something else entirely... As the meal was wrapping up, the staff quietly brought over a tray with the nostalgic 'Excellent' ice cream bar — you know, the one you used to sneak bites of as a kid without your mom noticing haha.
But they didn't just hand it over — they said there was a trick to making it even more delicious, and suggested we "try it, try it~" And there's no way a big eater like me would refuse that haha. Immediately shouted "Yes!! Please do!!" They ground salt and pepper right over the ice cream, then poured a generous stream of luxurious golden olive oil on top...
"Wait, olive oil and pepper on ice cream...?"
Half-skeptical, I took a bite, and it was seriously an explosion of high-end, sweet-and-savory flavor, the kind you'd expect from a fancy Italian restaurant ㅠㅠㅠ The combo of vanilla sweetness + the nutty richness of olive oil + the umami of salt and pepper was incredible haha. If you go, don't miss this dessert trick — definitely give it a try!!
Overall review from a serious eater
Stopping by after work, I got to properly enjoy both the vibe and the flavor at 'Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch'! From the orange sign glowing in the alley, to the private booth seating, the calm classical music, and above all the insanely high-quality beef assorted platter grilled over charcoal — nothing was missing 👍 (And the staff's kindness — no words needed!!)
- Atmosphere & space: Private booth seating + classical BGM + corkage-free — peak luxury vibes!
- Meat quality: A juice-filled feast of charcoal-scented chamjinsal, angeomisal, and gadakgalbi
- Dessert & closer: The palate-cleansing beef doenjang ramyeon, the clever passion fruit ade, and the legendary olive oil + salt + pepper ice cream finish!
Honestly, this is the kind of Maebong Station restaurant that makes you want to earn a ton of money just so you can come every week haha. If you're near Maebong Station or Yangjaecheon Stream looking for a private date spot or upscale charcoal beef BBQ, this is a must-visit!!
