Duck barbecue restaurant in Siheung for a filling date: Grill Duck

Now that we’ve started wedding planning, our weekend dates have somehow become a package deal with wedding errands. This time, after looking at suits for our wedding shoot in Bucheon, we properly recharged with duck barbecue. It’s close to Starfield Bucheon, so it fits nicely into a date itinerary, and it would also be a good spot for a family meal over the upcoming Chuseok holiday.

How about duck barbecue for a weekend date?

The purpose of this date was to look at suits for the shoot! Since we’d come all the way to Bucheon, we wanted to make it a date too, but browsing all kinds of suits made time fly faster than expected.

Once we’d finished one errand, we were both hungry, so we went straight for duck barbecue. When you’re preparing for a wedding, there’s always something to look at every weekend—from dresses and suits to appliances—so lately, ending an errand with something delicious has become part of our date course too.

We’d visited Grill Duck before, so we headed there without even debating the menu. The meat is neatly prepared and the portions are generous, so it’s one of the places that comes to mind when someone asks me for a good meat restaurant around Bucheon or Starfield Bucheon.

This time, we tried only fresh duck

Last time, we had both spicy marinated duck and fresh duck, but this time we ordered only fresh duck. I wondered whether plain duck without seasoning might get tiring halfway through, but nope—we cleaned every last piece.

There’s barely any of that distinctive duck smell, and as it cooks, a savory umami flavor really comes through, so it tastes great on its own. There are several kinds of ssam (lettuce wraps), too, so one bite can be packed with vegetables and the next can focus on the meat—the flavor shifts a little each time.

Above all, they give you a seriously generous amount of meat. We arrived hungry as a pair and still left properly full, so I think it would suit anyone looking for good-value meat around Bucheon too.

Over several visits, I’ve never felt that the meat had an off smell or was disappointing in quality. There hasn’t been much variation in either flavor or portion size from visit to visit, which is also why I keep coming back.

As the weather cools, duck gomtang was perfect too

Before the meat arrives, they bring out warm duck gomtang (duck soup), and it’s quietly a specialty. With the weather gradually turning chilly these days, one sip of warm broth made my whole body feel relaxed.

It was especially welcome because we’d used more energy than expected walking around to look at suits. Once the warm broth had settled our stomachs, the duck was cooked at just the right time to eat! That day, it really felt like we’d come to recharge!

Engaged couples have so many places to go for wedding prep, even on weekends. If you have errands in Bucheon like we did, finishing one item on the schedule with a hearty duck barbecue meal is a nice course too.

Would it work for a Chuseok family gathering?

With Chuseok coming up, lots of people will be looking for a place for a family meal. Grill Duck takes reservations except on Chuseok day itself, so it can be an option when you need somewhere for a family meal before or after the holiday.

There are quite a lot of tables, making it good for a date for two, but it also looked suitable for bringing parents or having a meal with a larger family group. When we visited, I remember about half the guests being couples, while more than half were families of four or more. There was even a spacious table area where around 8–16 people could sit together.

Duck is an easy menu for people of all ages to enjoy together, and the generous meat portions make it a good fit for family dining too. It would be nice as a couple’s date spot when you’re looking for good meat around Bucheon, and as a family gathering or large-family dining spot around Chuseok. If you’re planning to visit over the holiday and have a preferred time, it’s best to reserve in advance.

What about parking and a Starfield date itinerary?

One reason I keep returning here is the accessibility. Even when I drive, I’ve never run into traffic on the way there. I guess it’s not an especially congested stretch. So driving doesn’t feel burdensome, and it’s convenient to stop by on days when I have the car and parking at a Bucheon meat restaurant in mind. The parking lot is very large, so there’s no need to worry about parking.

This time too, it was right on our way home after looking at wedding-shoot suits in Bucheon, so we happily stopped in. On a day spent running around for wedding preparations, a convenient route like this matters just as much as the food.

Starfield Bucheon is nearby as well, making it great for a date course. You could shop or browse at Starfield and then come here for duck barbecue, or eat a hearty meal first and spend time at Starfield afterward. It’s less than a five-minute drive away. Going to Starfield after the meal to hang out and walk off your food makes for such a nice date.

It’s a place that works well for everything from an engaged couple’s weekend date to a Chuseok family meal, so once again we went home completely full. We looked at suits, had a date, and finally refueled with duck barbecue—a busy but really full weekend.
