Gwangju Korean restaurant for pork duruchigi: Oneuldo Utja Chowol
In short
Oneuldo Utja Chowol is a Korean restaurant in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, serving pork duruchigi and sotbap. I arrived just before Sunday lunch filled up and tried the generous spicy stir-fry, cheese omelet, and hangover-worthy seaweed soup. Verdict: I’d absolutely return for a big, warming pork duruchigi meal.

Menu and order

I ordered pork duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork) for two, two sotbap (pot rice), and a cheese king gyeran-mari (rolled omelet) ✔️
Sunday lunch—would there be a table?

Have a thorough read through the visitor guide~!

The inside is spacious! I visited on Sunday at lunchtime, and it was just about to fill up hahaha. There were two tables left, so I got seated right away. They said there could be a wait from 11:30, and it was true..!

You can pack your own leftovers, though the containers cost ₩1,000~ I really love duruchigi dishes, and on this day I was craving pork most, so that’s what I ordered! Next time, I’m coming back to try the squid spicy pork too. Absolutely!

Self-service corner for sotbap orders
There’s a separate self-service corner. Once you order sotbap, extra bowls of rice are free! Seaweed soup is also ready if you want something brothy. But this seaweed soup was seriously the kind that cures a hangover,, I can’t believe they give this away—it felt like medicine!

At the self-service banchan (side-dish) bar, take only what you can eat~

Pork duruchigi that surprised me with its portion
Here comes the pork duruchigi I ordered! It comes with ssam (wrap leaves), and they seriously pile on the scallions and bean sprouts hahaha. So this is why there are so many customers!!!

The moment it arrived, my friend and I yelled, “Owner, is this really all for us!?” hahaha. Oneuldo Utja Chowol says it does not use imported frozen meat! It’s 100% fresh Korean pork, so fresh! It’s on a whole different level from frozen meat—no unpleasant odor, and the texture is tender.

They explain how to eat it! They stir-fry it well for you at first, so no worries~ But at the beginning, you do need to keep turning it over.

Cheese king gyeran-mari and Suhyangmi sotbap
The cheese king gyeran-mari I ordered arrived too! It’s seriously huge,, huge for the price hahaha. And it’s stuffed with a king-sized amount of cheese, so you can eat until you burst ^^ It was pure moistness!

The sotbap uses Suhyangmi single-variety rice. It costs more than regular rice, and when you make nurungji (scorched rice) with it, it’s nuttier and has a completely different aroma! It definitely tasted different from other rice. The rice was so good.

So much kimchi, so many vegetables, and pork too—a perfect full table! I think Oneuldo Utja Chowol is a great place for a Gonjiam dinner gathering, an office lunch, or a family get-together! The interior is spacious too, so make a reservation in advance if you’re planning a company dinner~

I’d had some drinks the day before, but even while eating, I naturally started thinking about beer again,, It was so warming and spicy—totally my style hahaha. The seaweed soup was truly fantastic too!
This is somewhere I’d definitely come back to even without a sponsorship 😎

The owner and staff at Oneuldo Utja Chowol were kind, too. Pork duruchigi! Highly, highly recommended! It was for two people, but the portion was more like three—I’m still thinking about what I had to leave behind,, Next time I have to take it home hahaha.
