When traveling around Mokpo or just out for the day, a raw fish market restaurant serving fresh live-fish sashimi feels like a must for foodies. This time I visited Cheonji Susan at the Mokpo North Port Fish Market — a spot trusted by many long-time local regulars — and tried the basic 2-person set.

Where is Cheonji Susan Bukhang branch, and where do you park?

Cheonji Susan Bukhang branch is on the 1st floor of the Mokpo Live Fish Sashimi Plaza, units 11 and 15. It's about a 5-minute drive from the Mokpo Sea Cable Car. If you come in through Gate 2, 3, 6, or 7, you'll see the tanks in front of the restaurant right away, making it much easier and faster to find. Parking is easy too, with a large free lot right in front of the plaza.

Walking into Cheonji Susan, the first thing that caught my eye was the row of neatly arranged tanks out front. They're apparently maintained under a strict daily system, and the water was clear and clean enough that I could see the fish's freshness and movement for myself — it built trust right from the start.

In summer they focus on seasonal mudfish sashimi and sea bass, and in winter, takeout of fattier yellowtail — always centering on whatever fish is best in season, which makes the place convenient not just for dining in but for takeout or home parties too.

The menu has 2–4 person sets, featuring flounder, rockfish, sea bass, red seabream, longtooth grouper, live octopus, abalone, and more.

What we ordered: the ₩180,000 table setting

These are the sikidashi (side dishes) served alongside the main raw fish in the ₩180,000 table setting. It wasn't just a lot of dishes for the sake of it — they were fresh, generous, seafood-heavy sides that actually complemented the sashimi. Plenty of food, clean and satisfying for a group.

The main raw fish, freshly caught and sliced, had a great springy, chewy texture. As you'd expect from a place with well-managed tanks, there was none of that fishy off-flavor — just a nutty, clean savoriness.

We ordered a bottle of soju too. On our first trip together, my sibling, niece, and I with all this good sashimi and side dishes — it would've felt like something was missing without soju. It really works as a flavor booster :)

It's close to the sea cable car, has a large free parking lot, and easy gate access, making it convenient to visit.
