Today's review is of Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch (평이담백 뼈칼국수 본점), a bossam restaurant known for its tender pork with zero off-smell ^_^
With the perfect ratio of lean meat to fat, the bossam here was so, so good, and they also sell a whole range of noodle dishes — bone kalguksu, bibim kalguksu — that pair well with it. Great for lunch, and great as a side dish with makgeolli in the evening. Highly recommend 😊

The restaurant from the outside

A clean, classic Korean-restaurant exterior! It's an 8-minute walk from Mangwon Station Exit 1, so it works well as a lunch spot for office workers or a dinner stop after work.

Seeing that the main customers are middle-aged, I immediately got the vibe that 'this isn't a place that got famous on SNS — this is a place that wins on real flavor' ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ*)
Inside Pyeongidambaek: seating and the waiting area

Packed with customers whether it's a weekday or weekend!

The interior is spacious with wide gaps between tables, so you can eat comfortably :) Lots of groups come here, but it's also a great spot to eat solo, so it's a place you can drop into anytime without worry ෆ⃛ ෆ⃛ ෆ⃛

It's popular enough to have its own waiting zone, so you can trust it and just go 😋😋

Jeolla-style kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) rich with salted seafood
The kimchi and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) here are the real deal ✨✨ It's Jeolla-style kimchi with a strong salted-seafood aroma, and honestly, among heavily seafood-seasoned kimchis, this was the tastiest one I've ever had ㄷㄷ The quality is so high that you could happily mix just the kkakdugi and kimchi into a bowl of white rice >3<

Salted shrimp, radish salad, and lettuce wraps came out together, so it's a table setting that's complete in nutrients and delicious too~
How does the medium bossam taste?

Just looking at it, you can tell the bossam is tender and soft 🤤🤤 Boiled just right so it practically melts in your mouth. And the fat is drained out so well — it's incredibly light and clean :D
Better bestie combo than IU and Innah!! Well-aged kimchi and bossam 😍 I thought I wasn't that hungry, but this combo was so good my hand kept reaching for more~~

Wrap it up like this with raw garlic in a napa cabbage leaf and it's pure happiness!!

Piling on a big chunk of kimchi is amazing too!! The meat isn't sliced thin either — it's thick, so one bite fills both cheeks with happiness 🤤🤤

Us, thrilled after eating something delicious ,,, ᰔᰔ

Bibim kalguksu at 11,500 won: does it pair with the bossam?
I ordered bibim kalguksu thinking it would go well with the bossam ❤️

It comes with a tangy, spicy bibim sauce, so it'd be perfect when you have no appetite~ Topped with egg garnish, meat, and gim (seaweed) flakes and mixed together ~.~

The chewy noodles soak up the sauce beautifully for maximum savoriness 👍🏻 Even better with the crunchy vegetables, and the perilla oil aroma makes it a treat for both your mouth and nose!

Eating it with the minced meat is heaven too 😍
Final verdict on Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu
With a fast table turnover, this is a great lunch spot for office workers! The side dishes were clean and delicious, and the tender bossam was addictive enough that I was already craving it again the next day.
