It'd been a while since I met up with old coworkers, so we headed to Kkankkan Jjokbal, our go-to jokbal (pork trotter) spot in the Suwan district 🥰 Never fails us, always our trusted pick! 🤤 They just launched a spicy Goheung raw garlic jokbal, so we ordered it right away 🤍

What the restaurant feels like late at night, and the seating

We visited late, but the place was still packed! The interior has a hanok (traditional Korean house) feel with plenty of tables and wide spacing between them — great for family dinners, group gatherings, or company outings. Lots of tables with generous gaps between them made for comfortable eating!

The free sundubu jjigae and steamed egg that come with every order

Wow ˊ˗ the basic side dishes included a spicy sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) and soft steamed egg! For something free, the portions were generous — perfect to sip on with a drink while waiting for the main dish 😎

For wraps, they set us up with lettuce, salad, ssam radish, ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, salted shrimp, vinegar-chili sauce, and dried radish strips!

Sundubu jjigae

While waiting for the meat, we had a drink and tried the stew first! The sundubu had big chunks of enoki mushroom in it — good quality for something free, and honestly just really delicious haha. It was spicy enough that the drinks kept flowing 🥰

This sauce is amazing — they gave us a generous amount, which I really appreciated! 👍🏻 A lot of places charge extra if you want more sauce, but Kkankkan gives plenty right off the bat! ❤️

You can either pour the raw garlic sauce generously over the jokbal or dip each piece — we just poured it all on right away haha. As soon as it came out, the garlic aroma hit us and the visuals were no joke! 🤓 Jokbal and garlic is such a classic combo that we had high expectations, and sure enough, it was so, so good 🥰 The chewy texture of the jokbal paired perfectly with the sharp bite of the raw garlic sauce! 👍🏻 Especially recommended if you love garlic 🥰

The wrap vegetables were fresh and the dried radish strips were so good too haha. You know that huge satisfaction of taking one big wrapped bite, right? haha

Single dish for drinks, set menu for a full meal

Ta-da! Since we came for a second stop, we kept it simple with a single order as a drinking snack, but the set menus are varied and generously composed, so if you're coming for a full meal with drinks, go straight for a set 🤤

Seeing the screen, it looks like they play sports games sometimes — great for watching baseball or soccer while eating! With spacious seating and a screen, it also seems perfect for reservations or group gatherings! ⭐️Certified Suwan district favorite⭐️
