On a weekend evening, I finally made it to 'Chodaechang Byeollae', the popular spot that everyone in the know in Byeollae already knows about!

Parking is available for about 4 cars in front of the restaurant. If there's no space, you can use paid parking — Byeollae-dong Public Parking Lot No. 9 or the GS The Fresh Byeollae parking lot. This place has also been a Blue Ribbon-recommended restaurant for three years running, and

apparently celebrities visit often too, so I was excited even before I got there

Is the interior at Chodaechang comfortable with kids?
Walking through the door at Chodaechang Byeollae Branch, the interior was clean and neat! Even in the early evening there were customers scattered around, and it was well managed without the usual chaos of a grill house — a great first impression for coming to eat out with kids.

Cross-ordering two servings of galbisal and one of makchang
At Chodaechang Byeollae Branch, the first order of grilled items has to be 3 servings or more! They have great mixed-grill sets too, and as an intestine fanatic I really should have ordered beef gopchang (small intestine)... but since we were eating with the kids, and cross-ordering is allowed, we went with galbisal grilled beef for two and makchang grilled pork intestine for one.

Side dishes and the makjang dipping sauce at Chodaechang
Sitting down to a neatly arranged spread of side dishes, you can really feel the owner's care, right? Kim wasabi (seasoned seaweed with wasabi) and potato-corn salad and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) that I hadn't seen anywhere else — all seriously delicious

For tables visiting between 4 and 6, there's a table event and a review event too — keep that in mind!!

The staff grill the meat for you, but still make sure your meat doesn't burn, haha

Galbisal grilled beef for two (₩18,000 × 2) Makchang grilled pork intestine for one (₩20,000)

Staff grill the meat over real charcoal from start to finish
Chodaechang grills everything over real charcoal

What was most touching was that the staff grill the meat completely, from start to finish, cutting it into perfectly bite-sized pieces themselves! They put all the meat on at once, and that subtle charcoal aroma really soaked right into it.

Usually when you go to a grill house with kids, you're so busy grilling meat and tending to them that you barely know if you're eating with your mouth or your nose, but here, with an expert's hands doing the grilling just right, I could really just focus on eating.

They even cut everything into easy-to-eat pieces, and the sweet, salty galbisal was so tender the kids ate it up too, haha
And the makchang, especially good with Chodaechang's signature special sauce, had zero off odor and was so savory and chewy!! Crispy outside and moist inside off the charcoal, it got more savory the more you chewed.

Sides to order too: kimchi-mari guksu and doenjang sulbap
The main grilled dishes at Chodaechang Byeollae Branch are great, but the side dishes are a must-try delicacy in their own right!!

There's the refreshing, sweet-and-sour kimchi-mari noodles (cold noodles in kimchi broth) with a bit of icy slush, and

the savory, deep-flavored doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice soup) — definitely order this too~!! It's packed with tofu, zucchini and other fillings, and eating it with hot rice really fills you up
Free dessert ice cream and juice for the kids
As the meal was wrapping up, there was an extra bit of thoughtful service. They brought out sweet Excellent ice cream for dessert, and handed the kids each a Pororo juice box — genuinely touching.

Great food is a given here, but with this much kindness and attention to detail, if you're looking for a place to eat out with kids in Byeollae, I definitely recommend visiting Chodaechang Byeollae Branch.
