Group dinner at Jongno seafood restaurant Parang Haenyeojip
In short
Parang Haenyeojip Jongno Branch is a Korean seafood restaurant and pub a 1-minute walk from Exit 4 of Jongak Station in Jongno, Seoul. The writer came with coworkers for a group dinner and ordered the small aged sashimi combo and in-season raw shrimp sashimi, with the complimentary seaweed soup and four kinds of freshly sliced seasonal fish standing out. Between the kiosk on every table and the wide gaps between seats, Parang Haenyeojip is an easy pick for a group dinner near Jongak Station.

Today I visited Parang Haenyeojip, a seafood pub near Jongak Station on the Street of Youth, together with a group of my work colleagues! They have a lot of indoor seats and tables, and best of all the staff were so friendly that it put me in a great mood. Writing this review to recommend it as a group meetup spot!

Parang Haenyeojip Jongno Branch is just a 1-minute walk from Exit 4 of Jongak Station, so accessibility to the station was amazing!! It's near Cheonggyecheon and Gwanghwamun too, so it seems like a great spot to sightsee and then come eat sashimi 🤤🤤
Inside Parang Haenyeojip: group tables, kiosks and an LED ocean screen

The interior has a lot of seats and tables, so many groups were having dinner together. There's a kiosk at every table too, so you can order comfortably!

On one wall there's an LED screen showing the sea, which oddly made me feel like I was actually at the beach!!! The tables were spaced apart well too, so conversations were easy to hear.
Parang Haenyeojip's signature dishes and complimentary sides

[Signature menu]
- Aged sashimi combo (small/medium/large)
- Seafood platter
- Haenyeo box
- Haenyeo octopus bossam (boiled pork wrap)
- Whole steamed Yeonggwang cuttlefish
True to being a seafood-focused Korean restaurant, Parang Haenyeojip's menu was made up of really diverse seafood dishes!! The signature dishes were all generously composed, so you can just order whatever suits your taste ~~!

For basic side dishes we got seaweed soup and seaweed. The seaweed soup was warm with an addictive flavor, so I kept spooning it up haha.

Aged sashimi combo (small): four kinds of seasonal fish
We ordered raw shrimp sashimi, which is in season these days, along with the aged sashimi combo!! When all the dishes came out, the visuals were amazing.

We ordered the aged sashimi combo in the small size! From the right, mackerel and salmon were definite, and I forgot the two on the left, but they looked like halibut and rockfish!! They said the four kinds of seasonal sashimi change with each season, and the slices were cut thick, so it looked delicious just from the visuals!!

The sashimi was freshly sliced too, so it was super fresh, and I usually don't really like salmon but this salmon was genuinely delicious! Eating it with makjang (spicy fermented sauce) and gim (seaweed) is a real treat.

Wrapped in perilla leaf with sashimi, garlic, chili, and ssamjang, it was truly the best pairing with a somaek (soju-beer mix)!

Seasonal raw shrimp sashimi, with the heads fried
For the raw shrimp sashimi, they gave us the fresh-caught raw shrimp sashimi with the heads fried up separately! Shrimp are in season these days so they were big and fresh. There was plenty of it too, so it was great for sharing even in a group.

Eating the raw shrimp sashimi one piece at a time with chojang (vinegar chili sauce) or wasabi, before you know it the plate is empty...🥲

I'd always only had grilled king prawns before, so this was my first time trying raw shrimp sashimi, and that crunchy, springy texture was really delicious!! It wasn't fishy at all and was nice and cold — a real treat.

Free soju or beer for a photo review
At Parang Haenyeojip, you can get a bottle of soju or beer through their photo review event. We did the review event too and got soju haha. If you like a drink, definitely do the review event and grab yours!!!!
Is Parang Haenyeojip worth it for a group dinner near Jongak Station?
This time we visited the seafood pub Parang Haenyeojip for a group meetup with friends!! I liked that they had such a variety of dishes to go with drinks, and above all I was satisfied because the seafood quality was so good. The seats were spacious and the atmosphere was nice too, so if you're looking for a pub near Jongak Station, I'd recommend this place❣️
