Nowon family buffet celebration with lamb skewers and sundae: Kuu Kuu
In short
Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is a sushi and seafood buffet on the 6th floor at 247 Nowon-ro in Nowon-gu, Seoul, a large restaurant often booked for family and group gatherings. Visiting with family for a celebration, the writer worked through the new menu items — sundae (Korean blood sausage), sausage, grilled oysters, LA galbi and grilled lamb skewers — plus mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), doganitang (ox knee soup) and marble ice cream, and found the lamb nutty rather than gamey. With so many new dishes added, Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is an easy family buffet where both adults and children can find something they like.

Today we had something to celebrate, so we went to Kuu Kuu, the Nowon family gathering spot my little one picked. I hadn't been able to go for a while because I was busy, so I was really looking forward to seeing what new menu items had come out!

Where is Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, and what is the restaurant like?
Kuu Kuu, great for a family gathering in Nowon, has an entrance right there when you step off the elevator. You need to take elevator 5 or 6. Being able to eat sushi, fruit, and so many other foods all in one place, Kuu Kuu's price seems really reasonable. I'm curious what new menu items they have.
The Kuu Kuu store is very spacious, so it's great for group or family gatherings. Further inside there are also room-style seating areas, so it seems like an even better idea to book ahead for a special occasion. There are partitions installed throughout the large space too, which I really like.
The sushi and roll counter: each family member's favorite piece
What kind of sushi do you like best? I love aged-kimchi raw fish sushi, halibut, whelk, and beef brisket sushi. My little one's favorite is whelk and scallop sushi. Dad's favorite is also whelk and sirloin sushi.
The rolls and sushi are almost the same menu as before, but the gamtae (seaweed) roll is gone — that was one I really liked...
New hot food at Kuu Kuu Nowon: sundae and LA galbi
I was so happy to see LA galbi (marinated short ribs) had appeared. Sweet and salty, really tender and delicious ribs. To think you can eat LA galbi at Kuu Kuu. Really grateful. ^^ Last time I said it would be great if they had sundae, and now they really do have sundae?? It was chewy and delicious.

I really enjoyed the cream shrimp and chili shrimp. The sausage seems to be a new item too — plump and delicious.

I think this place might be a doganitang spot worth noting. Perfect as a Nowon family gathering restaurant. A bowl of this would be really filling for the older folks.
Do the grilled lamb skewers taste gamey?
You guys, seriously!!!!!! Kuu Kuu Nowon has lamb chops now. You know how lamb can smell bad and become inedible if it's not cooked well? I was excited the moment I saw it, but hesitated a lot since I didn't know how it would taste. But there was a twist~~~~~~~
The lamb skewers were delicious!!! Well seasoned and no smell at all — really enjoyed the nutty flavor.

Did you know Kuu Kuu is secretly kind of a pasta spot haha? Maybe because of good turnover, it wasn't soggy and was really tasty.
Sashimi and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup)

The mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) is still delicious as ever. Sweet, tangy, and fresh — I really enjoyed it. This time my little one added octopus too, and said it suited her taste perfectly haha.
Salad bar and drinks at Kuu Kuu Nowon
For the sake of conscience I had to eat some salad too, so I went to the salad zone. Nothing had changed with the salad, but it was well kept and fresh.
Just looking at the ube latte makes me want to drink it. They had pearls ready too, so it felt just like drinking one from Gong Cha — really tasty. I don't usually drink slushies, but my little one tried one anyway just for fun.
Dessert zone: fruit, cake and marble ice cream

There was fruit and cake ready — the fruit was really fresh and the cakes were bite-sized, sweet, and had a luxurious taste. The watermelon was really delicious.

I think this marble ice cream might be the biggest reason my little one wants to come to Kuu Kuu. Last time she ate mostly marble ice cream, but this time she had more of the lemon sorbet.
My picks, and the order we ate them in
Let me show you the food we ate that day.

We settled our stomachs with crab soup first, then tried the meat. Then, for conscience's sake, we ate some vegetables...

Then we got serious about the sushi. Ah, I want to eat it again.

There were grilled oysters as a new menu item. I don't really love oysters so I hesitated over whether to eat one, but I was surprised after trying it. Who knew it could be this good. They sold out quickly, so I had to wait for a new batch before I could eat one.
Ah, I should have added noodles to the sweet and tangy mulhoe.
I tried the doganitang I mentioned earlier with rice mixed in. It felt like it really settled my stomach.

Kuu Kuu is originally known for its coffee, but since I'm trying to cut back on coffee lately, I had peppermint tea instead.

The mango was frozen but still big and tasty. I was too full to eat more watermelon, which was a bit of a shame. I saw a staff member grilling waffles and grabbed one right away — nutty, chewy, and crispy. It would have been a shame not to try one. ^^
How much Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch has changed
Is it really okay for Kuu Kuu to change like this?? Every single dish had gotten more delicious~~!! I say this every time, but the staff are really kind and seem to keep the place spotless. They cleared our dishes right away too, and I was so grateful for that.
Oh, and!!! Did you know Kuu Kuu Nowon has a playroom too?? Having a playroom is such a lucky thing for parents!!! Kuu Kuu is definitely worth a visit as a family gathering spot in Nowon. I really love the new menu items — highly recommend.
