Nowon Korean BBQ restaurant for pork jowl and wild garlic wraps: Hanam
In short
Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Nowon, Seoul, a 6-7 minute walk from Seokgye Station Exit 1, where the staff grill the pork at your table. On a Friday at 8:30pm, two diners ordered the 50,000-won couple set (pork belly, pork jowl, doenjang stew and rice), and the best bites were pre-seared pork belly wrapped in wild garlic leaves with a dab of wasabi, plus kimchi grilled in pork fat. With free parking for 5 cars and baby chairs always on hand, Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch works easily for a family or after-work dinner.

The Seokgye Station restaurant where the pre-seared pork belly juices and wild garlic combo was insane
I went to my beloved Hanam Doeji Jip to celebrate Friday night with pork belly and pork jowl! We ordered the 50,000-won couple set, and by my standards it was a perfectly complete meal!
This was my first time at the Seokgye branch — the food was great and the staff were so kind that I'd definitely want to come back. Here's my review of Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch, a Seokgye Station restaurant worth knowing about!

How to walk there from Seokgye Station, and the parking lot

It took about 6-7 minutes on foot from Seokgye Station Exit 1. It's in a relatively quiet spot, which I actually liked. There's free parking for up to 5 cars behind the building! Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch is open year-round, and this coming Chuseok it's only closed on the holiday itself, September 25. It'd be a great spot to visit with family during the Chuseok holidays too.
Friday 8:30pm: how busy is it inside?

We visited on a Friday at 8:30pm and nearly every table was full — I snapped this the second a nearby table got up haha. Already feels like a Seokgye Station favorite... Lots of families and groups of friends seemed to be there! Things seemed to quiet down after 9pm. There was no wait when we went, but if you're planning to visit during peak hours (6-8pm), booking through Naver Reservation might be a good idea just in case!

Baby chairs are kept on hand like this, so it looks like a great place to visit with little ones.
What comes in the 50,000-won couple set

From set menus to individual cuts of meat to sides, the menu is varied and generous. There were two of us, so we ordered the 50,000-won couple set — pork belly + pork jowl + doenjang stew + 1 rice. Comparing it to the individual gram counts, the meat portion works out to about 2.5 servings. Hanam Doeji Jip's serving size per person is bigger than most other places (180g), and the couple set's combined pork belly and jowl comes to just over 400g, so we walked out of there completely stuffed...

These are the basic side dishes. My beloved wild garlic leaves (myeong-i namul) come along with some wasabi!

Pork belly and pork jowl seared by the staff
The pre-seared meat gets set beside the stone griddle for you.

Already looks delicious, right? Once the griddle heats up, a staff member comes over and grills it for you.

While it was grilling, the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) arrived. I figured a couple-set-sized small bowl would come out, but a full-on serving bowl showed up instead.

Tofu, vegetables, and even chadolbagi (thinly sliced beef brisket) too~~~ Packed with ingredients.

Look at that visual — writing this post is making my mouth water again lol
Sizzling away, being grilled carefully

Once it's fully cooked, they set it on a metal plate on top of the stone griddle!

That wasn't the end. They grilled kimchi in the pork fat too — chef's kiss;;

The grilled kimchi was seriously the kicker lol. The combo with the rich, fatty pork jowl was just; 100 points;

Pork belly wrapped in wild garlic leaves with wasabi
Grilled pork jowl, yum-

For the pork belly, wrap it in wild garlic leaves!

Add a little wasabi inside, roll it up, and yum! Ah, that was so good.
Is Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch worth it?
I liked that the staff at Hanam Doeji Jip Seokgye branch were so kind and the tables were kept clean. But most of all, it was just really delicious!! My companion said it was so good they added a rice refill ㅠ;; There was clearly a reason this place has so many customers.

Whenever a place is genuinely delicious, I tend to gush about it, and I think today's post got a bit high-energy haha. I'd recommend this place for a good meal after work with family or coworkers!
