Lately the weather's been so unpredictable morning and night that I've been feeling sluggish and low on energy every morning — while thinking I wanted to recharge with some solid boyangsik (health-boosting food), I visited Songnim Bok Jangeo Ansan Sadong Branch near Sari Station in Ansan, where you can eat all the quality freshwater eel you want, unlimited refill :)

Songnim Bok Jangeo Ansan Sadong Branch is about a 10-minute walk from Exit 2 of Sari Station on the Suin-Bundang Line. There's a bus stop right nearby too, and parking spaces are available in front of and beside the restaurant, so if you're driving, you can enjoy your meal comfortably no matter the time!

Walking inside, the space felt much bigger and more comfortable than I expected! Thanks to the clean, bright interior, I think it's a great fit for group gatherings or family dinners too :)

The tables are spaced generously and the whole space feels relaxed, so it's much more comfortable to eat here than at a crowded, cramped unlimited-refill place 👏

What's on the unlimited menu: eel, pork belly and chicken neck meat

The biggest reason this place has gotten so much word of mouth is the generous spread at a reasonable price! Fresh eel is a given, but juicy pork belly and tender chicken neck meat are also all unlimited refill, which I loved for the amazing value 👍 Kids up to elementary school age get half the adult price, so it's good for eating with children too :)

Side dishes, the self-bar, and unlimited bean sprout soup and rice

Shredded ginger, which pairs perfectly with eel, plus fresh wrap greens, various kimchi, and side dishes were all neatly set out :)

Another big plus was being able to help yourself at the self-bar set up on one side of the restaurant.

And on top of that, even the bean sprout soup and rice are unlimited refill!!!! The clear bean sprout soup was so refreshing, and it was great being able to eat comfortably without having to ask for extra rice :)

It's not just the eel that's unlimited — pork belly and chicken neck meat are provided too, so people with different tastes can all eat plenty and evenly when they come together. And the basic setup is served generously too!

How did the grilled freshwater eel taste?

First up, our starter — eel! As it grills, the meat plumps up thick, and I couldn't believe this was unlimited-refill quality — the eel is really plump and full 🤤

Picking up a piece of golden-grilled eel, it was crispy outside and chewy inside — a really nice texture to eat 👏 Especially since I've been low on energy lately, the clean, mild flavor of eel didn't get old at all — I just kept eating!

And Songnim Bok Jangeo Sadong Branch gives complimentary bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) at every table.. 🍷 When it comes to eating eel, bokbunja really is the truth over any other drink 👍 it genuinely paired so well haha

The hidden winner at Songnim Bok Jangeo: chicken neck meat

The chicken neck meat was just as delicious as the eel! This is a bit of a hidden cheat code — as a special cut that only comes in a tiny amount per chicken, it has a really nice texture, chewy yet tender!

It's not greasy and tastes clean, so it's delicious even with just a light dip in salt, no extra seasoning needed!

Is the all-you-can-eat price worth it after a few refills?

The eel prepped and laid out neatly at the self-bar looked really well done too 👏 We just refilled a bit more eel :) It honestly felt like better value than ordering 1kg or 2kg at a regular eel restaurant!!

Wrapping different combinations of ingredients together or pairing them with the side dishes, I could enjoy it deliciously without getting sick of it, right down to the last bite :)

Usually with unlimited-refill restaurants, you tend to worry about the quality of the meat or eel first, but this place had such fresh ingredients that it made those worries pointless!
