Hi everyone! Jeongwon Galbi is a place I'd wanted to try whenever I got a craving for galbi (grilled short ribs) in Gwangju, Gyeonggi! This time I happened to be in the Gyeonggi Gwangju area and was craving meat, so I finally visited in person haha. It had been a while since I'd had galbi, so I ordered the seasoned version — it turned out way tastier than expected, so today I'll walk through the Jeongwon seasoned galbi I tried!

Walking into the restaurant, everything felt clean and tidy overall, which made for a comfortable meal!

Spaciously arranged tables at the BBQ restaurant

The tables were also set up with plenty of room, so it seemed like a good spot to come with family or a larger group for meat haha. At a BBQ place you end up sitting for a long time, so it was nice to eat without feeling cramped! (There's a second floor too, so it's great for group gatherings!)

What is on the self-serve side dish bar?

There was also a self-serve bar set up on one side! It was convenient being able to grab what you needed while eating haha. Especially when you're deep into the meat and run low on side dishes or extras, it was great to just go grab more right away! Since you can take exactly as much as you need, you don't have to keep bothering the staff, and it made the whole meal more relaxed :)

How did the seasoned galbi taste?

Jeongwon Galbi had a variety of menu items, but we ordered the Jeongwon seasoned galbi that day! Since we came for galbi, the seasoned version was naturally what I was most curious about lol. After ordering and waiting a bit, the main dish finally arrived!

The side dishes came out in a nice variety too, which I loved haha. The seasoned crab and the salad were especially good.

Seeing the meat coated in seasoning, it looked so appetizing just on its own haha. They put it straight on the grill, and as it started to cook, that unmistakable delicious seasoned-galbi smell drifted up~ Honestly, grilling the meat is the most exciting part lol.

The seasoning had soaked well into the meat, so it was tasty even on its own, and it paired even better with rice.

When I eat seasoned galbi, I like having a bite of meat with rice together, and that day too, eating it that way, my chopsticks kept reaching back for more.

Thick meat clinging to the galbi bone

The meat clinging to the bone was so thick and tender, it just melted in my mouth~~!

Mul naengmyeon and the plum drink after the meal

And of course, no galbi meal is complete without mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)!!! Hah... I want to come back just for this one dish alone ㅠㅠ Seriously so good....🥹🫶🫶

A glass of plum drink served for dessert

To wrap up the meal, I also had a glass of plum drink for dessert! After eating meat, your mouth tends to feel a bit heavy, but finishing with the plum drink gave a nice clean finish haha. Sweet and refreshing, it was perfect as an after-meal drink following the BBQ! Personally, whenever there's a post-meal plum drink like this, I always end up going for one more glass lol.

Is Jeongwon Galbi in Gwangju worth a visit?

That day I had a satisfying, hearty meal of seasoned galbi after a long while! There really is something fun about grilling galbi on the tabletop grill until it's golden and browned. The restaurant was also comfortable to eat in, and having the self-serve bar meant I could eat without any hassle the whole time. If you're looking for a place to eat galbi in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, or searching for a BBQ restaurant for a family meal out, consider checking out Jeongwon Galbi Gyeonggi Gwangju Branch :) I had a delicious time with the Jeongwon seasoned galbi that day haha.
