Where is Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch? Near Migeum Station and Korea National Open University

The weather has been so nice lately!!! Great for walks, great for taking the kid out to play!!! We seem to keep heading outdoors these days.

We went for lunch at Samiri Makguksu, a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) spot near Migeum Station, right by Geumgok-dong Community Center and Korea National Open University. We parked nearby — even though it's autumn, it was warm enough that we wanted something cold, so we went for makguksu. I took my kid along; the kid had tteok-mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) while I had a cool bowl of makguksu.

Looking at the menu, the warm dishes come first: the famous tteok-mandu-guk and the very popular knife-cut dumpling soup. The prices aren't bad and the portions look generous. Tteok-mandu-guk is the hit menu and knife-cut dumpling soup is the best menu!!

For makguksu, they sell three types: perilla oil makguksu, bibim (spicy mixed) makguksu, and mul (cold broth) makguksu, with a large portion adding ₩4,000. You can pick whichever suits your taste, but the signature dish really does seem to be the perilla oil makguksu.

For sides, there are pancakes first — crispy potato pancake and crispy chive pancake, two options. There are also dumplings: crispy fried dumplings and buckwheat crepe rolls..! You can order the fried dumplings as a full plate or just a half plate of 2 pieces!!

Inside Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch: easy for solo diners and for kids

The inside is very spacious and clean. Since it's a newly opened place, it looks fresh and nice. It seems like a good spot to pop in for a casual lunch! Fine to come alone, and fine to come with a group too since there are tables for four. Above all, it's great for solo dining.

What we ordered: perilla oil makguksu, tteok-mandu-guk and a half plate of fried dumplings

We ordered one perilla oil makguksu and one tteok-mandu-guk. And since it felt like something was missing, we added a half plate of fried dumplings! The half plate comes with 2 pieces, which was perfect as a side. Too much and it's hard to finish it all, so a 2-piece dumpling side is just right!!

The basic side dishes were three: two types of kimchi and pickled onions. All three were so good we finished every bit of the side dishes too..!!!

Perilla oil makguksu at Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch

The perilla oil makguksu is genuinely packed with nutty perilla oil — you mix the noodles well and eat them with the seaweed. The perilla oil is really nutty and the noodles are chewy, and they go together so well! I ordered it for myself, but the kid seemed to love it too and kept asking for more..

And the tteok-mandu-guk my kid ordered!! It was full of dumplings inside, with plenty of rice cake too, and the broth was rich and delicious. The dumplings especially were great — packed full of meat inside!! And the broth was so rich we kept slurping it up. Once autumn comes and you start craving a warm soup dish, this tteok-mandu-guk seems like a great choice.

Lastly, the fried dumplings we ordered along with everything else!!! A satisfying, well-priced combo of 2 pieces. Dip them lightly into the soy sauce that comes with the pickled onions — the inside is packed full of meat and the outside is crispy while the inside stays juicy, that classic crispy-outside-juicy-inside fried dumpling. So delicious! A half plate isn't too much, so it's a great thing to share.

Is Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch worth a quick lunch near Migeum Station?

If you're looking for somewhere for a simple lunch around Migeum Station, I'd recommend this makguksu spot, Samiri Makguksu~!! Good for solo dining, and good to bring a kid too, since right in front of the restaurant isn't a road, so my kid could play outside and then come back in to eat together.

It's also close to Geumgok-dong Community Center and Gumi 1-dong Community Center, and very close to the Seongnam Employment Welfare Plus Center and Korea National Open University's Seongnam Learning Center, so if you're looking for a lunch spot, I highly recommend it~!!
