Pork backbone pho at a Bundang Vietnamese restaurant: Kkamon Jeongja

I went to Jeongja-dong for the first time this weekend and there were SO many restaurants on the street! Among them, this place stood out for its strong Vietnamese vibe and great value — if you're not sure where to go on the Jeongja strip, come here haha. Turns out they have several branches across southern Gyeonggi.

Where is Kkamon Bundang Jeongja, and where do you park?

• 13-minute walk from Jeongja Station Exit 3
• Kkamon Bundang Jeongja parking — using the underground lot at The Sharp Star Park mall gets you 2 hours free. Just tell the staff before you pay!

Inside Kkamon Jeongja: busy with dine-in and delivery alike

The solo bar table has a big window, so it's great for eating alone while watching the street. If I worked around here, I'd probably come solo for lunch often and enjoy a little healing looking outside.

The 4-person tables were spacious and comfortable to eat at. We hadn't been there long before more customers started pouring in.

Sauces are set out on the table, and the kiosk has multiple languages besides Korean, so it looked easy for foreign visitors to use too.

The whole place is clean, and the self-serve bar has lids on everything, so it felt hygienic. The self-serve bar has onions, pickled radish, and pickled peppers. I love eating with spicy side dishes, so I was happy to see the pickled peppers haha.

The solo set with water spinach is priced nicely, so even as a solo diner you can enjoy side dishes. There are also unusual pho options like squid, bone, and mala. You see spicy versions often, but mala pho is rare, so I was curious about it.

They also had special items like naengsaep, banh xeo, and banh cuon. At another table I saw a big pile of picked-clean bones from the naengsaep — must be a specialty here.

A rare place that actually has banh mi sandwiches... we decided if we ran short after eating, we'd order one extra. First time I've seen a place selling cream shrimp in a 5-piece portion — good for trying a few different things without breaking the bank.

We ordered the seafood egg noodles for ₩14,000 and the bone pho for ₩13,000.

Both the hoisin and sriracha sauces were on the strong side, which added great umami when eaten with the noodles.

Anyone who loves a refreshing pickled onion~! I love how that bright onion flavor sneaks in between bites, so I piled on plenty.

Mixing the pickled onion into the noodles and dipping into hoisin sauce is a guaranteed win. Pairing it with spicy sriracha was great too.

There's one huge chunk of bone in it, packed with soft, tender meat. The fat rendered from the bone deepens the flavor even further, making the broth rich and full-bodied. I expected a clear broth, but it actually had a slightly spicy kick, which I liked even more! It paired especially well with the egg noodle stir-fry we ordered alongside it.

Seafood egg noodle stir-fry, 14,000 won

Topped with a fried egg and loaded with plump, generously sized shrimp — this seafood egg noodle stir-fry doesn't skimp on ingredients.

The bean sprouts were nearly as plentiful as the noodles, adding a nice crunch throughout. As someone who loves bean sprouts, I was fully satisfied with this dish!! It's not overly seasoned or heavy on spices — a clean, savory flavor that should appeal to just about everyone.

Is Kkamon Bundang Jeongja worth a visit?
