This spot used to be a shop called Kim Sajangne Makguksu — same owner, just a new sign reading Samiri Makguksu!

Inside Samiri Makguksu: is it comfortable for eating alone?
The interior of Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch is spacious and clean. It's not at all awkward to eat solo here, and the menu has something for everyone, from kids to adults.

The owner was a pro golfer for 15 years, and I heard that same determination now goes into making every meal something that brings people happiness.
Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch menu and prices
The main menu at Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch includes tteok-mandu-guk, ox bone dumpling soup, perilla oil makguksu, water makguksu, and bibim makguksu. Large portions are available, and the sides include crispy potato pancake and chive pancake. Fried dumplings, buckwheat crepe, and drinks are also on offer.

I ordered the perilla oil makguksu and my husband ordered the bibim makguksu, and I liked that the food came out quickly :)

What does the signature perilla oil makguksu taste like?
Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch's signature dish, perilla oil makguksu, has a deep, rich flavor from perilla oil pressed fresh at the dawn market and a secret soy sauce blend — the crunchy toppings, gim (seaweed), and other ingredients came together really well!

Apparently buckwheat is rich in rutin, which helps flush waste from the blood and supports circulation, and it's also packed with essential amino acids and minerals that help skin recovery.

The nutty perilla oil makguksu was seriously delicious — I get why so many people keep coming back. Totally recommend it 👍

Bibim makguksu sauce and what to do with the broth
The bibim makguksu, made with Samiri's own specially aged sauce, was full of healthy umami — a familiar taste, but the sauce itself was genuinely delicious!!

The secret behind Samiri Makguksu's menu is that the owner-chef doesn't use any store-bought sauces — every aged sauce is made in-house.

The potato pancake is also famous — apparently the potatoes are grated fresh and pan-fried to order for extra crispiness, which pairs perfectly with makguksu. I'll definitely try it next time😋

They also give you broth on the side, which you can add to the bibim makguksu to suit your taste. A filling yet easy-on-the-stomach meal — the kind of warm, home-cooked-feeling makguksu that anyone can enjoy, and the kind you keep craving once you've had it!!

Why a half plate of fried dumplings is right for two
A full plate of fried dumplings at Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch has four pieces, and a half plate has two — perfect for the two of us! Makguksu alone felt like it might not be quite enough, so we added this on, and the fried dumplings turned out to go surprisingly well with it.

The crispy dumpling skin and filling worked great together, and alternating bites of makguksu with dumplings made for a seriously filling meal haha.

My husband and I split everything onto our own plates and shared, and honestly it was too close to call — both were delicious. As expected from a makguksu specialist, everything we ordered was a hit. In particular, cooking each dish to order with fresh ingredients and house-made aged sauces really gave the sense that a lot of care goes into the food here.

Even the basic side dishes that come standard were fresh! Pairing the light, clean flavor of the perilla oil makguksu with the fried dumplings made for a happy meal of contrasting textures and flavors.

If you're near Migeum Station looking for a clean, filling meal, or a Migeum Korean restaurant that's easy for anyone to enjoy, I recommend this place to anyone who loves makguksu.
