Suwon Korean restaurant grilled mackerel: Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Suwon KT Wiz Park Branch is a Korean restaurant in Suwon, Gyeonggi, near KT Wiz Park. I had wood-fired grilled mackerel and marinated crab set meals, plus tteokbokki and bibimbap from the free self-service bar. A filling pick for a family meal near the ballpark.

A Korean restaurant near KT Wiz Park, great for family meals
A great place to go when you come to KT Wiz Park for a baseball game! When I visited, lots of people were having family meals, and since it’s Korean food, it looked like a good fit for everyone from adults to kids.

There’s a parking lot behind the restaurant, so parking was easy! Parking near the ballpark is tough, so at least while you’re eating, you want it to be easy!! Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo is on the second floor. Just take the stairs up to the second floor!
It’s newly opened, so the restaurant was super pleasant! Clean, neat interior! It was spacious too, with lots and lots of seats~ Most were roomy tables for four or more, so I think it would be great for families ◡̈ There are window seats with a nice view too ◡̈
The place was incredibly clean! I visited on a weekday evening, but there were lots of people—maybe word had already spread that it’s one of Suwon’s good spots. I don’t think it was even a game day!

A free self-service bar with every set meal
Ordering is easy on a tablet, and the table was neatly set. Order a set meal and the self-service bar is free!

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo’s biggest perk is the self-service bar! From miyeokguk (seaweed soup) and sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) to japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), fried items, and sausage, you can add all kinds of side dishes!
My top pick was this tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)! Being able to have tteokbokki at a great Korean restaurant too... that’s just the best! It wasn’t overly spicy, just nicely spicy! Perfect for anyone missing home-cooked food, haha.
There was a bibimbap station too, so I brought back plenty of namul vegetables and seasoned shredded radish. Highly recommend the bibimbap! Even after eating a bowl of rice, mixing it with sesame oil was seriously delicious. Sesame oil and perilla oil are right beside it too, haha.

They generously had maesil-cha (plum tea), iced tea, and coffee too, haha.

The basic side dishes were plentiful too.

The utensils were hygienically wrapped, and the included seaweed soup was so good that I had it twice.

We brought back extra tteokbokki and fried food ◡̈ There was nostalgic pink sausage and fried eggplant too! Getting to eat bunsik (Korean snack food) along with a Korean meal!! I think kids would love it too! There really were lots of people visiting with their kids.

A full spread of grilled mackerel and marinated crab set meals
The dishes we ordered were, of course, the grilled mackerel set meal and the hwang gejang (marinated yellow crab) set meal! As you’d expect from a fish-grill specialist, the mackerel was crispy outside and moist inside…!

Such a generous spread for two people, right! Even with just the basic sides and grilled fish, the whole table was full.
The mackerel was grilled beautifully—crispy outside and moist inside! It can make the house smell and feels hard to attempt at home, so I’m so happy there’s a fish-grill specialty restaurant. It was nicely moist, cleanly deboned, and really easy to eat! Dip it in the sauce and it’s so delicious.

You can choose between brown rice and white rice, so I chose brown rice! It felt like I was looking after my health even while dining out!

The crab was nice and plump inside too—really good, and the sauce was delicious! Pick the meat neatly and place it over rice, and it’s such a rice thief. The mackerel was moist and tender too, with the bones removed well, which I loved.
Even after polishing off a bowl of rice, I couldn’t pass up the bibimbap—and that was truly an excellent choice! So delicious and filling.

The seaweed soup was so good that I had another bowl, haha.

Finished the bibimbap and even had sungnyung after... so good.

A filling Korean meal near Suwon’s ballpark
This is a place I recommend as a great Korean restaurant in Suwon! Recommended when you’re visiting near Suwon’s baseball stadium or looking for Korean food in Jowon-dong!
