Pyeongtaek Korean restaurant with grilled croaker set: Suksudaega
In short
Suksudaega is a traditional Korean restaurant in Anjung, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, set among a hanok and garden. My father, younger sibling, and I enjoyed a three-person grilled croaker set with pot rice, scorched-rice tea, and an array of Korean dishes. Verdict: a lovely choice for a family meal or a quiet gathering.

Blue skies, a refreshing breeze. The weather has been absolutely amazing lately. I went looking for somewhere with an old-world atmosphere where we could enjoy a leisurely drive, too. Since it was a meal with my dad and younger sibling, I researched especially carefully ^^
Suksudaega, a traditional Korean restaurant in Anjung, Pyeongtaek, immediately caught my eye! Just as I had heard, its beautiful hanok (traditional Korean house) and garden came together so beautifully that I felt calm and relaxed from the moment I walked in. The elegance of all that greenery, pine trees, and a hanok is always lovely 🌲

Suksudaega’s location and hanok atmosphere
Suksudaega is a restaurant you can visit with confidence thanks to its spacious setting and hygienic management. It is designated a Safe Restaurant by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. With its charming hanok exterior, it is already hugely popular with people looking for a great Korean restaurant in Pyeongtaek for bringing their parents, family introductions, first-birthday parties, and all kinds of gatherings!
It also has a varied wine lineup that pairs well with Korean food, making it one of those places where you can enjoy a glass of wine alongside a neat, beautifully prepared Korean meal!

There was also a notice for Suksudaega’s Wine Heritage zero-margin special. One 750 ml bottle of Dom Pérignon 2017 was ₩330,000, available while supplies last to Suksudaega diners, with takeaway orders possible as well. There is no purchase limit per person, and a premium gift case is included. Quantities are limited and it may sell out early, so they say to contact the restaurant.
Spacious parking and exterior

The parking lot is very large, so no need to worry about parking~ Dad posed for a photo by the spinning waterwheel, and after our meal we exchanged an unspoken look promising to have drinks at the pavilion, haha.
Private interiors with a name for every room

The comfort that wood brings put me in a good mood. Every room has a name. It was nice to be in a private space where we could spend time just among ourselves without worrying about anyone around us 😀

Seeing all the different wines in the wine refrigerator made me want to have some, but at my dad’s insistence as a Saero fan, we skipped the wine, haha.
The grilled croaker set menu and our order

That day, we came to try Suksudaega’s grilled croaker special, which really showed off its refined style. As the table was set with flavorful dishes neatly served in elegant brass bowls with brass chopsticks and spoons, I really felt like I was being treated 👍 (This one loves being treated 😂)

A full table beginning with grilled croaker and pot rice
They first brought warm hand towels. They were thick and nicely warm, so I cleaned my hands well. We started the meal with my favorite pumpkin porridge and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) 😍

Crisp outside, moist inside grilled croaker and hot pot rice
For the main course, each person received one beautifully golden grilled croaker. The outside was crisp, while the flesh inside was moist and mild, with seasoning that was just right. There was plenty of meat, so I was totally satisfied.
The freshly cooked pot rice sent out a savory cloud of steam as soon as we lifted the lid. Topping it generously with croaker meat filled my mouth with nutty richness. The combination of croaker and nurungji sungnyung—scorched-rice tea made by removing the rice and pouring tea water into the pot—was excellent too 👍

A varied selection of wholesome Korean dishes
The seasonal dishes filling the center of the table were each made with so much care.
Salad and japchae
The crisp, fresh vegetable salad and the glossy, savory japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) piled high with shredded burdock really whetted our appetites. I’m a japchae lover, you know ^^
Tteokgalbi and pan-fried dishes
The juicy Korean beef tteokgalbi (grilled minced-beef patties), tender to bite into, and the neatly pan-fried dishes elevated the whole meal.
Fried burdock, bean sprouts and brisket, and shrimp dishes
I kept reaching for the dish flavored with bean sprouts and thin-sliced brisket, topped with finely shredded, fried burdock. The dish prettily dressed with shrimp and vegetables such as cucumber looked almost too lovely to eat. And the flavor goes without saying!
Soybean paste stew and side dishes
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), served individually in earthenware pots, had a deep broth that gently soothed the stomach. Dad gave the soybean paste soup high praise. Every side dish, from kimchi and pickles to seasoned vegetables, was mild rather than salty. I’m so glad I made lots of scorched-rice tea because I love it!
A carefully prepared Korean meal in a hanok
True to its Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Safe Restaurant certification, every ingredient was fresh and seasoned in a wholesome, gentle way, so my stomach felt comfortable throughout the meal. Suksudaega let us enjoy the deep flavors of Korean cuisine prepared with seasonal ingredients in a relaxed setting where nature and a hanok come together!
If you are looking around Anjung, Pyeongtaek for a carefully prepared full meal or a venue for a special gathering, I hope you will definitely experience a delicious meal at the refined Suksudaega ^^
