Choryang Hyeongje Galbi inside Choryang Galbi Alley
I went to Choryang Galbi over the weekend! According to my friend, who lives in Busan, Choryang Galbi Alley is famous. The restaurants in Choryang Galbi Alley have been established for such a long time that, apparently, almost none could survive unless they were good—so there’s a real sense of pride in the alley hahaha. So we went to Choryang Hyeongje Galbi!
There’s no dedicated parking! You’ll need to use a nearby paid parking lot. You can use the Kakao T Choryang-dong Parking Lot (Choryang-dong 937-29)!
This is Choryang Pork Rib Alley! Every shop along the narrow lane was a rib restaurant. Choryang Hyeongje Galbi is all the way at the back!
Just pass through the narrow alley and head all the way in!

This is the back entrance! Walk a little farther straight ahead from here, then turn left, and you’ll find the main entrance.

A two-person table at 8 p.m. on a weekend
The first-floor interior wasn’t huge, but it could hold close to 20 people! We visited around 8 p.m. on a weekend, and there was just one two-person table left, so we were able to sit down!

We ordered 2 servings of fresh ribs (300 g) for ₩24,000, 2 servings of pork ribs (400 g) for ₩24,000, a Zero Coke for ₩2,000, and steamed rice for ₩1,000~

The order slip is neat, right?

Green onion kimchi, banchan, and a crisp kimchi pancake
They even sell Choryang Hyeongje Galbi’s homemade pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi)! My friend said the pa-kimchi here was delicious and ate loads of it. I tried it too, and its pleasantly bitter edge was really appealing.

The banchan (side dishes) arrived! The kimchi looked seriously delicious! I ate the scallions easily enough, but I didn’t eat the kimchi because pulling it apart over and over felt like too much work. Later, though, it looked good enough that I regretted not trying it hahaha.

We also had gyeran-jjim (steamed egg), and each got a serving of shredded green onions. I couldn’t see any sauce on the onions, but they tasted sweet?? There must have been sauce on them.

They gave us lots of different vegetables, which made eating them with the meat so fun!! The kimchi pancake that comes out first was especially so wonderfully crisp and delicious! I wanted more, but I held back because I was worried I’d get too full to eat the meatㅠㅠ
Fresh ribs and pork ribs grilled by the staff
The first meat they grilled was fresh ribs! I was surprised that even 300 g of fresh ribs was quite a lot! And the staff grilled the meat for us! All we had to do was enjoy it comfortably.

Fresh ribs sizzling as they cook!

The fresh ribs seemed to be a slightly fattier cut, so they were rich and delicious!! We dipped them in sesame oil sauce too.

Take bites like this with all kinds of vegetables and it disappears in no time hahaha. Maybe because the fresh ribs themselves were such good quality? There was no pork smell at all; they were chewy and savory, and went straight into my mouth.

After we finished the fresh ribs, they grilled the marinated ribs too! They cooked them so well that there was never a gap between meats haha. Perhaps because the marinade itself was tasty? These went down so easily tooㅠㅠ There was honestly so much that we couldn’t finish it all, which was a shame, but wrapped with all kinds of vegetables, it was unbelievably delicious.
Glossy steamed rice, too
One thing I especially liked here was that the steamed rice was delicious too! Sometimes at barbecue restaurants, the rice seems like it’s old grain or has been sitting around for a while, but here the rice itself was tasty and beautifully glossy, so I finished my bowl in no time... Definitely order steamed rice and try it!!
The meat was good quality, and we ate at a great value too!! The owner was kind, and all the staff grilled the meat, so all you have to do is enjoy! It was a satisfying place! I could see why Choryang Hyeongje Galbi has held its spot here for so long.
If you’re coming to Busan Station or looking for a pork rib restaurant in Choryang, I recommend Choryang Hyeongje Galbi!!!
