Honestly I'd wanted to visit the Gwangan branch of Hets first, but there was a wait and I couldn't eat there, which was disappointing. But when I found out there's a Hets in Jeonpo too, I was so happy I ran right over! 🏃♀️🏃 =3 So let me start my honest, juicy review of Hets ✨

How long was the Saturday morning wait? (CatchTable check)
Hets Jeonpo Branch takes CatchTable reservations. We were checking from the moment we set out — around 11:30 on Saturday there were about 2 parties waiting, but by the time we arrived there was no wait at all, so we walked right in 😎
⬇️ Photos of the interior ⬇️

The silver-and-black interior gave off a really modern mood 🖤 It felt exactly like the hot new spot in Jeonpo!!! I'm the type whose heart races when I walk into a fresh, pretty space… so my heart was going pitter-patter 😍

The Hets Jeonpo menu and the bar-seat setup
Here's the Hets Jeonpo Branch menu and prices! We ordered the Jeju black pork sang loin katsu and the Jeju black pork assorted katsu 🍽️ 💕 I was curious about the loin sando and hire sando too, but figured we'd be way too full, so next time for sure haha
The seats were bar-style so we could sit side by side. Black pepper, salad sauce, truffle oil, and wasabi are set out to be shared between every two people.

And right above, spoons and barley tea were ready. Personally, if a place has something tasty like barley tea or buckwheat tea instead of just plain water, I automatically file it under "good restaurant" hahahahaha 😆😆

A look at the note pads and merchandise at Hets Jeonpo
There was also a memo pad and pen on the table, and looking closer, it was full of cute notes! Info about the restroom, info about the merch, all sorts of things haha

Looking to the side, they had cute goods for sale like pens and keyrings, so I browsed a bit! And I noticed everyone else had stuck their own sticky notes up too?!

Meanwhile the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and tonkatsu sauce arrived haha. Had to snap a photo first~ (that silver under-tray is so pretty haha, so healing~)

My husband and I left our own little footprint too 🐾

Hahaha cute, right??? The tonkatsu drawing turned out pretty good, and Mr. Perfectionist even added a written explanation hahaha

Since it's an open kitchen, we could watch our tonkatsu being fried right in front of us! Here comes ours!!!!!!

First, rice and miso soup came out!

How the Jeju black pork assorted katsu and sang loin katsu taste
The Jeju black pork assorted katsu arrived! It's the Jeju black pork loin katsu + hire katsu 2-piece set ☺️

Ahh… can you see that gleaming juice inside the pink flesh??

Next up, the Jeju black pork sang loin katsu came out!! Ahh this is exactly the kind of tonkatsu I wanted — with those layers of fat stacked up~~!!
First bite with the wasabi + salt combo! Ahh… this is it!!! The plump fat and tender lean meat worked together — the more I chewed, the more savory it got ❤️ I could even taste that chewy texture unique to gabrisal (pork shoulder blade meat), which gave it a totally different charm from regular tonkatsu! Honestly this dish really satisfied me 🤤

Trying the black pepper and truffle oil combination
Next I tried the Jeju black pork loin katsu with the black pepper + truffle oil combo! Wow… this is something else. I was worried since the katsu has a fat layer, but instead the truffle's aroma came through even more, and the harmony with the fat was pure art!!!!!

The hire katsu (pork tenderloin cutlet) we both loved
And the hire katsu that both my husband and I raved about!!!!! Ahh… even now I regret not ordering an extra one~ㅠㅠ My husband said it was the softest, most delicious hire katsu he's ever had!! The meat really was tender. Since there were two pieces, one for him and one for me — we savored them down to the very last bite haha

Also tasty with the tonkatsu sauce + mustard combo!!! Every sauce combination was delicious, but I still think wasabi + salt was the best! haha

Water refills and the Hets Jeonpo stamp card
It was a pretty hot day so we drank a ton of water! 🥵💦 Amazingly, right as our water bottle started running low, the staff would refill it immediately 😊 Maybe because we were sitting at the bar seats, the staff kept an eye on guests' tables constantly, and thanks to that we got attentive service without ever having to ask. It might seem like a small thing, but that kind of thoughtful care really showed the restaurant's dedication and service mindset, and it made the whole meal even more pleasant ❤️

We even got a little dessert and a stamp coupon 🤲 Collect 10 stamps and they'll give you a free Hets katsu set meal!
Why Hets Jeonpo is worth it for tonkatsu in Jeonpo, Busan
If you're looking for a proper tonkatsu spot in Jeonpo, I can confidently recommend Hets ❤️ We really got to taste the distinct flavor of Jeju black pork, and from the sang loin katsu to the assorted katsu, every dish felt made with care! In particular, the juicy katsu and the chewy texture of the gabrisal stood out, and I could see exactly why so many people seek this place out in Jeonpo 🥰 If you're looking for a date-night restaurant in Jeonpo, a katsu restaurant in Jeonpo, or a tonkatsu restaurant near Seomyeon, I'd definitely recommend giving Hets a visit 🤗💕
