It had been a while since I found a Chinese restaurant in Marine City with such a good view. Right on the waterfront, the scenery and atmosphere had me excited before the meal even started — Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch! Here's my honest review after trying the poached-egg jjajang, seafood jjamppong, and abalone shrimp fried rice.

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Adelis commercial building at 51 Marine City 3-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea, above Subyeon Choego Pork Gukbap. It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:00.

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Adelis commercial building in Marine City, Haeundae. It shares the building with Pungwonjang and Subyeon Choego Pork Gukbap, so it wasn't hard to find. Best of all, it sits right on the waterfront, so the view while eating was pretty impressive.

For parking, enter through the main Adelis entrance and turn right to use the commercial building's parking lot. It's convenient to visit by car.

Inside Bueokgan Chinese: bubble lamp, ocean views and 3 private rooms

The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in was, of course, the view. Marine City's signature open ocean scenery fills the space, and combined with the upscale interior, the atmosphere was really great.

A George Nelson bubble lamp is a particular highlight of the space, and the soft lighting gives the whole place a warm, cozy feel. The European vintage furniture scattered around was distinctive too — honestly it felt less like a typical Chinese restaurant and more like browsing a high-end furniture showroom. There are also 3 private rooms, which would work well for family meals, date nights, group gatherings or important occasions.

What's on the menu at Bueokgan Chinese

Bueokgan Chinese serves traditional Chinese dishes with its own signature spin. From familiar staples like jjajang, jjamppong and fried rice to more varied dishes, there was plenty to choose from depending on taste.

Ordering the three dishes: jjajang, jjamppong and fried rice

I could see the view even while ordering — the view was seriously insane!!!

Instead of water, this fragrant tea is served, and it paired really well with the somewhat rich Chinese food. The basic side dishes are pickled radish and jachai (pickled cucumber)!

This time I ordered the poached-egg five-layer pork jjajang, seafood jjamppong, and abalone shrimp fried rice.

Poached-egg five-layer pork belly jjajang

First up, the poached-egg jjajang. It looked a bit different from typical jjajangmyeon. With five-layer pork belly mixed in, it was fun eating meat and jjajang together, and popping the poached egg on top and mixing it into the noodles made everything even smoother. The combination of jjajang's signature sweet-salty flavor with the richness of the poached egg was quite good.

Seafood jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)

The seafood jjamppong had a spicy broth with a clean, fresh seafood flavor. Rather than being spicy just for the sake of it, it played up the seafood taste, so the noodles and broth were both enjoyable together. Coming to a Chinese restaurant, it would've been a shame to skip the jjamppong.

Abalone shrimp fried rice

Last was the abalone shrimp fried rice. The rice grains were fried up light and fluffy, and with shrimp and abalone mixed in, it was both mild and had a nice bite. Ordered alongside the strongly seasoned jjajang and jjamppong, it balanced things out nicely. Overall, what stands out about this place is that you can enjoy not just the food but the space and the view together. So if you're looking for a good restaurant in Marine City and care about atmosphere too, it's worth a visit.

Is Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch worth a visit?

Enjoying Chinese food right in front of the ocean made the atmosphere especially good here. The upscale yet not-too-stiff interior was memorable too. The menu selection was solid, from the poached-egg jjajang to seafood jjamppong and abalone shrimp fried rice. The vibe worked well for all kinds of occasions, from dates to family meals to gatherings. If you're looking for a restaurant in Marine City where you can enjoy the view, food and space all together, this one is worth remembering.
