This is Syushuvee. On this Ulsan trip I was craving something spicy and hot to shake off a bit of a hangover, so I stopped by a place famous for its stone-plate jjajang and jjamppong — Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong. What really drew me in was that eating jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) with a kid can be tricky, but here you can order yuni-jjajang (mild kid-style black bean noodles) as a children's menu item, so I decided to visit.
Where is Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong, and is there parking?
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong is located at 6 Ilsanjin 5-gil, 1st floor, Dong-gu, Ulsan, South Korea. Parking is available right in front of the restaurant, and if there's a wait, you can register through Table-ing.

When we arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the clean white building. Parking right in front made getting there really convenient.

The standing signboard out front showed off mouthwatering menu photos — just looking at it made me crave a bowl of spicy jjamppong.

An Ulsan local favorite — Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong already had that unmistakable famous-restaurant energy! If there's a wait, you can register through Table-ing, which made things convenient.
Is the dining room easy to sit in with a child?
The interior of Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong was spacious and tidy, with wooden tables set at a comfortably generous distance from each other. It was a good spot for family dining.
There were quite a few other diners when we visited, but the space was big enough that we didn't feel cramped at all — we could eat comfortably. The interior was overall clean and well organized, and the wooden tables gave off a warm feeling. With generous space between tables, it was a good place for a family meal.
Even a bowl of jjamppong deserves the Chanel treatment
Self-serve snack corner, kids' dishware and high chair

There was a self-serve dessert corner off to one side. Barley crunch snacks and yogurt were laid out too, perfect for a little something sweet after the meal.

See the crunchy barley snacks? And the icy-cold yogurt too — the best after-meal dessert!

What really stood out was how well they'd prepared for families with kids — they had kid-size dishware and a baby chair ready to go.
Free steamed rice at the self-serve corner
At the self-serve corner you could help yourself to pickled radish, onion, and black bean sauce — plus rice, as much as you needed. Being able to take as much as we wanted really put us at ease.
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong menu and what we paid
Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong takes orders via table order. Besides the stone jjamppong and stone jjajang, they had 2-person sets, 3-person sets, and individual dishes too.

Ordering was done through a table order tablet, so we could take our time browsing the menu. Beyond the stone jjamppong and stone jjajang, there was a wide range — 2-person sets, 3-person sets, and individual dishes.
The dishes we ordered
- Stone jjamppong + handmade donchi-tang set ₩38,000
- Added squid ₩5,000
- Kid yuni-jjajang ₩6,000
- Total ₩49,000
The menu item I was happiest to see! The kid menu, yuni-jjajang. Going to a Chinese restaurant with a kid, jjamppong is too spicy, and a full portion of jjajang is too much — yuni-jjajang was exactly the right size and style for a kid to eat.

A tip for enjoying the stone jjamppong and stone jjajang at their best — since they're served on a hot stone plate, you get to enjoy them piping hot from first bite to last, which I was looking forward to.

They brought our order out like this, and not long after, the food started arriving.
Stone jjamppong loaded with seafood: how was the broth?
The stone jjamppong at Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong filled the entire stone plate, with plenty of seafood piled on top of the broth. The first taste was spicy with a subtle sweetness.

After a bit, the dishes started coming out one by one. The one that really grabbed my attention was, of course, the stone jjamppong! The sheer visual of the stone plate filled edge to edge looked absolutely delicious. Seeing all that seafood piled generously on top of the broth, I felt it was worth coming here to shake off the hangover.
Plump, springy shrimp were piled in generously, and all the different seafood came together to really bring out the flavor of the broth. Definitely a well-chosen Ulsan spot.
From the very first sip, the broth was spicy with a subtle sweetness underneath — the kind of flavor that keeps pulling you back for more! It wasn't just aggressively spicy — there was a refreshing savoriness from the seafood layered together with the heat.

On top of that, we added squid too. Cut into bite-size pieces, it was great to pick up along with the jjamppong noodles, bean sprouts, and seafood — the texture was so rich. Springy squid, shrimp, crunchy bean sprouts, and chewy noodles all in one bite, each with a different texture that filled your mouth up completely.
Especially with the generous amount of bean sprouts mixed in, that crunchy texture added a lot. With the fresh, cool taste of the bean sprouts layered into the spicy broth, it would work really well as a hangover cure too.

And I have to call this the highlight of the stone jjamppong — the scorched rice crust. Since the stone plate stays hot the whole time, once you've eaten most of the noodles and broth, you find a crispy, scorched layer stuck to the bottom, and it was a surprisingly special treat.
Kids' yuni-jjajang and handmade donchi-tang
The ₩6,000 kid yuni-jjajang came out in a portion sized just right for a child. Since it meant we didn't have to worry about our kid being unable to eat the spicy jjamppong, choosing what to order felt a lot easier for our family visit.

We ordered yuni-jjajang for our kid. The portion size was just right for a child, which was great. Most of all, ordering jjamppong often means kids can't eat it because it's too spicy, but having a separate kid menu made choosing dishes a lot easier when visiting as a family.

The handmade donchi-tang we ordered as a side dish also exceeded expectations. At first I was curious just from the name alone, but once I tried it, it turned out to be a dish that combines the charms of both donkkaseu (pork cutlet) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork).

The outside was fried crisp and crunchy, giving it great texture, and it let us enjoy the hearty, savory feel of a pork cutlet along with the signature sweetness of tangsuyuk — a distinctive treat.
When jjamppong alone feels like not quite enough, ordering this as a side really rounds out the meal! A great dish for kids and adults to share together.
Naver receipt review event
One more thing! There's a free ade with the Naver receipt review event. After eating, you can take part in the Naver receipt review event and get a free ade too. Eating well, leaving a review, and getting a cool drink besides — if you visit, definitely check out the event.
Final verdict on Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong
If you're craving something spicy hot during a trip to Ulsan, especially somewhere to eat with a kid, Ulsan Daewangam Dol Jjamppong — known as one of the go-to Ulsan Chinese restaurants — seems like a solid choice. From the stone plate piled high with jjamppong to the kid yuni-jjajang, it's a place you can visit without any worry. Warm up with a bowl of spicy jjamppong, and finish with the savory scorched rice at the end! If you're looking for a restaurant to visit with your kid in Ulsan, this is worth considering.
