Marine City weekday lunch set: two jjamppong and tangsuyuk, Bueokgan

"All we've eaten is hotel food~" "I want spicy jjamppong." "Same wavelength. I'll find a place."

That's how we ended up at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a Haeundae restaurant, at the end of our staycation. You'll understand why I wanted jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) once I run through what we'd eaten the day before — cookies, bread, and cheese at hotel tea time, a hotel dinner during happy hour, and hotel breakfast in the morning. Not a trace of spicy, hot, and clean anywhere. So we wanted jjamppong.

Why we chose a Haeundae restaurant with both an ocean view and parking

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a Haeundae Chinese restaurant that offers both an ocean view and parking. I wanted an ocean view no matter what, and my husband wanted somewhere with parking if at all possible. We landed on Bueokgan Chinese Marine City together.

The weekday 12–3 lunch set and the Dongbaekseom view from the window seats

The lunch set at Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch can only be ordered weekdays between noon and 3pm. We sat at a window seat where we could enjoy the ocean view.

Honestly, it was so hot that day that I wanted to sit right under the air conditioner, meaning in the central hall. But there happened to be a huge group of guests that day, so we had no choice. Still, the view from the window seat was absolutely amazing — Dongbaekseom island against the blue sea was a spectacular sight.

It was so hot that we ended up ordering an unplanned glass of beer. Maybe because of the heat, the beer tasted especially good.

Two bowls of jjamppong and tangsuyuk: how big are the portions, how do they taste?

What we enjoyed was the lunch set, available only on weekdays from noon to 3pm, and we ordered two bowls of jjamppong plus tangsuyuk. We could have chosen jajangmyeon instead of jjamppong, but my stomach felt queasy that day and I craved something spicy and hot, so I went with jjamppong without hesitation.

When the food actually arrived, the portions were pretty generous. The noodles had a nice chewy bite, and the broth had just the right level of spiciness — very much to my taste. I especially liked the tangsuyuk. No need to debate dipping versus pouring the sauce, since it came with just the right amount of sauce already drizzled on, and the batter tasted crisply fried.

Full house with a group booking — how long was the wait for food?

Aside from the window seats, the central hall and even the inner private rooms were completely full of guests at this Haeundae restaurant. Both the owner and staff looked extremely busy. Luckily, when we arrived, the group's orders had already been taken, so our food didn't take as long as I expected.

If the group had been about to order, or if all the dishes had come out in one big rush, I think we might have given up waiting and just left. Fortunately, the orders weren't backed up, so we got to properly enjoy the food without getting worn out from waiting.

Parking tip: enter at the Adelis apartment gate and turn right

Using the Dash Adelis commercial building parking lot, you can park free for up to 90 minutes. We also made sure to get our parking ticket stamped on the way out after paying.

Honestly, if there's a spot along the street, parking there would also be fine. But on a day like ours, with strong sun and very hot weather, using the shaded commercial building lot might actually be the better call.

One thing to note: the commercial building's parking lot can be a bit confusing the first time. You have to enter through the apartment entrance and then turn right. At first, we searched for the Haeundae restaurant, set Bueokgan as our destination, and followed the navigation — but since it led us to what looked like an apartment entrance, we thought we'd gotten it wrong and drove a whole loop around the area. It turned out the structure is that you enter through the apartment entrance, and the resident-only parking and the commercial building parking are simply split apart from there.

If it's your first visit, knowing this in advance should save you some wandering around trying to find it. Thanks to this Haeundae restaurant, Bueokgan, we wrapped up our Busan trip on a delicious note.
