Hi, I'm Anna, keeping a record of my delicious everyday life! On a Saturday evening I was craving cold mulhoe (raw fish and seafood cold soup), so I headed to Muirang Mulhoerang in Gyeyang. This time I ordered a solo mulhoe and a seafood pajeon (savory seafood pancake). The mulhoe was packed with different kinds of raw fish and seafood, and pairing it with the pajeon made for a filling dinner. The place itself was clean overall, making it a comfortable spot for a family meal.

A clean dining room that suits a family meal
We visited around 7pm on a Saturday. It was dinnertime so the place was busy, and I noticed quite a few families with parents and kids.

Even during the busy hour, the restaurant wasn't loud, and the seating was comfortable.

The first thing I noticed walking in was how clean the place was. The tables and floors were tidy, and the bright, spotless atmosphere made for a comfortable meal.
Assorted mulhoe for one 25,000 won, seafood pajeon 18,000 won
Muirang's signature assorted mulhoe is ₩25,000 for one person, ₩45,000 for two, ₩65,000 for three, and ₩80,000 for four. Corn noodles come included, with extra noodles at ₩3,000.

For rice dishes, there was a raw fish rice bowl at ₩15,000, a raw fish and abalone rice bowl at ₩18,000, and clam kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) at ₩10,000. There was also assorted sashimi and flounder sekkoshi at ₩55,000 each, seafood pajeon at ₩18,000, and a seasonal oyster pancake at ₩15,000 per plate. We ordered the solo assorted mulhoe and the seafood pajeon.
How cold mulhoe tastes next to hot, crisp seafood pajeon
The assorted mulhoe arrived in a large bowl, nicely arranged with several kinds of raw fish and seafood, vegetables, seaweed flakes, and radish sprouts. Rather than just a bit of fish on top, it was a mix designed to let you enjoy several different textures of seafood together.

A staff member mixed the ingredients and broth together for us. The quick, skilled way they mixed it showed real experience — it was different from how I usually mix mine, so it was fun to watch.

Once well mixed, the mulhoe held a variety of seafood including raw fish and abalone. The fish was soft yet chewy, and the abalone had a nice crunchy bite.

Corn somyeon noodles included with every mulhoe
After eating some of the seafood and vegetables, I added the corn noodles that came included. The yellow noodles blended nicely into the mulhoe broth and looked appetizing. The noodles were springy and chewy, pairing well with the sweet-and-spicy broth. Finishing with the corn noodles made the whole meal even more filling.

Seafood pajeon packed with visible squid and shrimp
The wide, golden-fried seafood pajeon was loaded with vegetables like chives and carrots along with seafood, all evenly spread through. Instead of a thick-batter pancake, the ingredients were clearly visible, which made picking off pieces to eat all the more fun.

Going from the cold mulhoe to a warm bite of seafood pajeon, the contrast in temperature and texture worked really well together. Enjoying the mulhoe cold and the pajeon warm made for a great combination of the two dishes.

Eating such good food, a beer naturally came to mind. It just kept going down easy, haha.
Is Muirang Mulhoerang worth a return visit for mulhoe in Gyeyang?
Muirang Mulhoerang in Gyeyang was a place to enjoy mulhoe and seafood pajeon together in a clean setting. Being a Saturday evening, there were plenty of families, and it had the comfortable feel of a good neighborhood restaurant. It's a great spot to visit in Gyeyang whenever you're craving cold mulhoe or seafood dishes. If I come back, I'd love to order the mulhoe and seafood pajeon together again, just like this time.
