Where is Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch?

Gwangseonjip Kkachisan Station Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant at 149 Gomdallae-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea (Somang Building, 1st floor). It's open Mon–Sun 16:30–24:00, 365 days a year, and it's a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Kkachisan Station.

Today I visited Gwangseonjip, apparently a famous spot for good food in Hwagok-dong. The taste is great, but I heard the real draw is that the meat comes out fully cooked, so you can eat comfortably. Since we're eating with kids, our family is always on the hunt for places where someone else does the grilling haha.

Where to park near Gwangseonjip? 950 won for 1 hour 35 minutes

Gwangseonjip has no parking of its own, but there's a public parking lot 3 minutes away on foot — the Gomdallae Culture Welfare Center public parking lot.

Parking is only ₩100 per 5 minutes. On top of that, there's a 50% multi-child discount, so we paid just ₩950 for 1 hour 35 minutes of parking. Super cheap!!

Inside Gwangseonjip: the dining room and the lace grill covers

Wall with a round mirror surrounded by plants and roses

On one wall there's a big round mirror surrounded by greenery and pink roses, which made for a great spot for a mirror selfie. But what impressed me most was how clean the grill pans at each table were!

Usually at a BBQ place the grill pan sits out exposed and you can't help but worry a little about dust or debris getting on it, right? But at Gwangseonjip, every table's grill pan had a pretty lace mesh cover gently draped over it.

There were also gorgeous, sparkling chandeliers in a few spots around the restaurant, giving the whole space an elegant, upscale feel. It would make a great spot for a date or a gathering too.

Free sides at Gwangseonjip: corn cheese and heotgae sticks

Complimentary honey, enzyme, and vitamin set

Everyone was given a honey, enzyme, and vitamin set. Full marks for the owner's sense of hospitality.

Corn cheese comes out as a default side. Once it's heated through, the cheese stretches out long and sweet ♡

Heotgae sticks served with alcohol

And then the draft beer arrived. Nice touch giving out heotgae (raisin tree) sticks when you order alcohol.

How the 720g mixed platter tastes: kkodeulsal, ppolsal and Jeju samgyeopsal

The meat finally arrived ♡ From top: kkodeulsal / ppolsal / Jeju samgyeopsal.

The Jeju samgyeopsal (pork belly) was clean-tasting with no gamey smell, and the skin had this appealing texture that was crisp yet chewy the more you bit into it. Ppolsal is a special cut from the pig's temple and cheek area — apparently you only get about 100–150g of it per pig. It has low fat content and a high proportion of lean meat, but the texture was springy while also incredibly soft and tender.

Kkodeulsal comes from the back of the pig's neck, a special cut yielding about 300–400g per pig. The lean part was clean-tasting yet the juices burst out savory the more you chewed, and the fatty part next to the skin was bouncy and chewy rather than greasy. My personal pick is kkodeulsal ♡

Lettuce wrap with steamed green onion kimchi and meat

Wrapping it up with the steamed green onion kimchi and meat together was really delicious.

Why Gwangseonjip is easy with kids: pork that arrives fully grilled

Right when things started feeling a bit heavy, we'd eat some of the noodles together — sweet, tangy, and refreshing, it went down clean. The thing that stresses you out most when eating out with kids is dealing with grilling the meat, right? At Gwangseonjip, the meat goes through three stages — griddle, open flame, and charcoal — and comes out 100% cooked, so it was genuinely easy taking the kids there.

No need to worry about oil splattering or smoke hurting the kids, and no scrambling around grilling meat at the table — we could just focus on the meal comfortably. With its cute, café-like interior and hygienic grill pan covers, it's a great spot for a pleasant, clean meal out with the kids ♡
