I suddenly craved bossam (boiled pork wrap) in Hapjeong, so I went to Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch! Pyeongidambaek is famous for its bone kalguksu (noodle soup), but it turns out the bossam is famous too, haha, who knew. This time I ordered a wide spread — bossam, bone kalguksu, and seafood chive pancake!
To cut to the chase, if you love bossam, this is a Hapjeong restaurant you need to know about!! Especially the combo of thick-cut pork with crisp napa cabbage — pure love ,, 💙
Where Pyeongidambaek is in Hapjeong, and its opening hours
Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 2. It's open daily 11:30–21:00, with a break time from 15:00–17:00.

We visited as a family of four and ordered one medium bossam, two bone kalguksu, and one squid chive pancake! The portions were almost too much, hahaha.

The side dish spread: two kinds of kimchi
The basic spread alone was generous at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch! Ordering bossam brought napa cabbage along with cabbage kimchi, seasoned dried radish, salted shrimp, ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, and cheongyang chili — quite the lineup! There were even two kinds of kimchi, so we could pick what suited our taste.
The spicy dried radish side dish brought out the savory richness of the pork, and the well-seasoned cabbage kimchi was a perfect match with the meat..! Bossam is a dish that's not just about the meat — the kimchi and wrap vegetables that come with it need to be good too, right? Haha.
Thick-cut bossam pork, medium size
First up, the bossam! This place is seriously good for bossam.

The pork came out beautifully arranged on a big white plate. It wasn't sliced thin — it was cut nice and thick, so you could really enjoy the meat's natural texture. Is this the level of bossam a real Hapjeong spot delivers?

I especially liked that the napa cabbage came out generously on a big plate. The cabbage was crisp and sweet, perfect alongside the pork!

The glossy layer of fat looked so appetizing >< Since the meat itself was thick, even one piece filled your mouth! It wasn't just plain, dry lean meat — the fat attached made it moist and tender.

Dad and my sibling's wrap showdown! Whose wrap looks tastier?
Bone kalguksu with big chunks of pork
And the second dish, bone kalguksu (noodle soup)!

It arrived in a big bowl brimming with broth.

Can you see the size of the meat?! It's huge! You get to enjoy both the meat and the bone broth, so a single bowl of this noodle soup felt like a pretty hearty meal on its own!
Sipping the warm broth between bites of bossam made for the perfect combo of heat and chew. Switching between the rich, savory pork and the clean broth kept me from ever getting tired of it……I accidentally ate way too much, ha.

The red dipping sauce, made with peanut sauce
Personally, I found the sauce interesting — unlike the usual ssamjang or salted shrimp, this red sauce had peanut sauce mixed in, which felt unique.

The kimchi looked really good too… as someone who always needs kimchi with bossam, this is exactly how you win my heart.
Squid chive pancake with visible pieces of squid
The third dish, squid chive pancake, haha. We really over-ordered.

Big chunks of squid were tucked between the chives, giving it a satisfying chew. It wasn't one of those pancakes packed with chives but barely any seafood — you could spot squid everywhere, even in the photo, which I really liked.
Pairing a bite of pancake with the bossam, then finishing with a sip of warm broth, made for a truly filling spread! It was also a great side dish to order and share when dining with a group.
Inside Pyeongidambaek: seating and atmosphere

The sign is big and the restaurant itself is large, so it's easy to spot right away.

Step inside and you'll find a hall that's bigger than expected! There are wood-toned tables and chairs, and the overall vibe is clean and comfortable.

There were plenty of tables set up, so it looked great for dining with friends or family. It also didn't feel like a hassle to come alone for just a bowl of kalguksu!

On one side there's the kitchen and a space for prepping side dishes. Side dishes aren't self-serve — staff bring them to you.
Review perks, discounts and the half-price event

Leave a Naver receipt review and you get 3 dumplings or a drink!

There's also a 10% discount for firefighters, military, and police,

and the new water strait clam kalguksu is going for ₩6,000! Half price, wow. This event seems to be temporary, haha.
From thick, juicy bossam to rich bone kalguksu to a chive pancake loaded with seafood, this Hapjeong restaurant let us eat like kings! 🤍
