Mild curry with kids at Sinchon Indian restaurant Meno Kamena
In short
Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch is an Indian and Nepali curry restaurant on the second floor at 13 Yonsei-ro 11-gil in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. Dinner with two children meant mild curry, sweet naan and butter naan, basmati rice and strawberry lassi, and both kids ate happily despite the spice aromas. With 1 hour of free parking at Changcheon Church and a group table for about 9, Meno Kamena suits family meals and gatherings alike.

My princess said she wanted to eat out tonight, so we went to Meno Kamena, a Sinchon Indian curry favorite. My wife happened to be working late (again), so instead of having to cook and clean up alone at home, this actually worked out better..!

What kind of place is Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch?
Meno Kamena is a famous Indian curry chain — I've been to their Songdo and Daehangno branches before and both left a satisfying impression. Meno Kamena means "hope" in Nepali, apparently.

The interior somehow felt like the real India. (I've never actually been there.. if you disagree, you're right lol.) The Yonko-jeon university festival was happening, so the dining room was pretty spacious. Honestly the whole Sinchon restaurant alley had that vibe that day.. and yet delivery orders kept steadily going out at this Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena.

On the wall, Shiva was smiling gently at us. Oh my Shiva...

You can order by smartphone, but there's also a paper menu on hand — that one's actually more convenient for taking in the whole menu at a glance.

Mild curry that children can eat
And here it is. Curry, naan, basmati rice all arrive. Every dish at this Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena, is made from spice blending to cooking by Indian and Nepali chefs with over ten years of experience, apparently.

For the curry, I picked the mildest option so the kids could eat it. They say they aim to bring the deep flavors of authentic Indian and Nepali cuisine while keeping it balanced and not too intense, so even first-timers to Indian food can enjoy it without pressure..!

Strawberry lassi and basmati rice
Traditional Indian yogurt lassi is something the kids always love since they're big yogurt eaters, so we always order it when we go for Indian food — and this Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena, even had strawberry lassi, which my princess especially loved.

Basmati rice, traditional Indian rice made from long-grain rice..! Any Indian curry restaurant would be in big trouble without this. I personally love this kind of rice so much that when I travel to Southeast Asia I get refills of just the rice — and apparently taste is hereditary, because the kids compete over who gets more of it too.

Sweet naan and the side dishes that come with it
At this Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena, you can choose from various styles of naan, the traditional Indian bread baked in a tandoor. My princess spotted the honey-brushed sweet naan and said she wanted to try that first. The naan at Meno Kamena Sinchon Branch is less crispy and more thick and chewy in style.

Pickles, jalapeños, and an onion "kimchi" (?) come as basic side dishes.

My cool boy eating Indian curry like a champ..! Given the nature of Indian curry, there's definitely some spicy sharpness to the spices, but he said he could handle it haha

He even dips the naan in on his own lolololol. This guy eats everything except mochi tofu...
Nepali beer and where to park at Meno Kamena
D..deer antler..? In reality it's just Cass beer, but they served it in a Nepali beer Barahsinghe glass, so it felt like I was absorbing the energy of the Himalayas. This Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena, offers 1-hour free parking at Changcheon Church, which is great if you're driving into Sinchon — except then you can't drink the beer.. haha. Since it's an area you can reach quickly by village bus, this kind of perk really came in handy. A small reward for myself for doing housework and chasing two kids around.

Ordering an extra butter naan
My princess said she wanted butter naan too, not just sweet naan, so we added one. The buttery aroma was rich and nutty, and it went really well with the chewy texture.

Wait, but once the butter naan showed up, she said the rice tasted even better with it.. lolololol. Ugh, if I'd known that I would've ordered more basmati rice..!
Well, the butter naan got eaten up well too, but the rice — while not a small portion — ended up feeling a bit short once split three ways. (Truth be told, Dad only had one spoonful.. seems like the big brother ate most of it.)

And the strawberry lassi, gone in one shot..!

Vrrrr.. vrrrrrr...

There's also a group table that seats about 9, so it looked great for gatherings too — this Sinchon Indian curry spot, Meno Kamena. I'd recommend it as a place to eat with kids too!
