Gimpo sundae restaurant with tabletop-burner suyuk: Paldam Sundae
In short
Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch is a sundae (Korean blood sausage) and sundae-guk restaurant at 5 Ungok-ro in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, in the Seokmo-ri area. For a friend's birthday lunch, the order was suyuk (sous vide pork head meat) simmered at the table on a burner, a handmade assorted sundae platter and 211 Chef's spicy sundae-guk, with extra cuts picked from the organ meat self-bar and dropped into the soup. Putting your name down remotely on CatchTable makes getting a table easy, and the tenderness of the suyuk was the part of the meal worth coming back for.

It was the day we'd planned to meet in Gimpo for my friend's birthday. I happened to have a car in for repairs nearby, so we decided to grab lunch there while I picked it up. That's when I thought of Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch.

I'd heard so many people rave about it that I'd wanted to visit for ages, but somehow the chance never came up. This time, since I was already nearby picking up my car, I finally made it. Spoiler: I was really glad I did.

Where is Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch, and is there parking?
The place I visited is well known as a Seongmo-ri (석모리) local favorite — Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch. The address is 5 Ungok-ro, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, 1st floor.
Parking was available, which made it easy to drive there. Since I was there that day to pick up a car from repairs anyway, having parking felt like a small bonus. Getting parking right when I needed it — that was a lucky-Vicky moment, haha.

How to skip the line at Paldam Sundae with CatchTable
Paldam Sundae is famous for drawing crowds, and I'd heard the wait can get long.

Rather than just showing up and waiting blind, we put our name down on CatchTable ahead of time. We were about 5th in line, and got seated more smoothly than I expected. If you're planning to visit, booking a remote wait beforehand seems like a smart move.
What we ordered for the birthday lunch
Since it was my friend's birthday and a place I'd been curious about, we ordered a little of everything.

- Suyuk
- Handmade assorted sundae
- 211 Chef's spicy sundae-guk
That was our order.
Suyuk first: sous vide pork head meat on a tabletop burner
The first dish to arrive was the suyuk (boiled sliced meat). But this wasn't ordinary suyuk — it was sous vide head meat, which made me even more excited.

It came with a tabletop burner, so you simmer the suyuk and eat it warm.

Once it started bubbling, we dug right in — and after one bite, I thought:
Whoa, so this is what really tender meat feels like.
It genuinely melted the moment it hit my mouth — the kind of thing people mean when they say 'melts in your mouth.' There was almost none of the chewy toughness you'd expect from head meat; it was really tender, and the flavor of the meat itself was great too. Best of all, the portion was more generous than I expected.

The suyuk is described as domestic Korean pork head meat cooked sous vide, and after tasting it, I understood exactly why this dish gets talked about so much. Personally, of everything I ate that day, the suyuk is the one I'll keep thinking back on.

211 Chef's spicy sundae-guk
Then the spicy sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) I'd been waiting for arrived. If you like sundae-guk, you know you go straight for a spoonful of broth first. I did the same, and it was delicious — spicy, but with real depth to the broth, and great with rice.

Picking cuts at the organ meat self-bar
One of the fun parts of Paldam Sundae was the organ meat self-bar. If you feel like your soup needs a bit more, you can go grab whichever organ meat you like from the self-bar and add it in. Liver, lung, cattle omasum (osorigamtu), heart, windpipe, and more were all laid out, so you could pick according to your taste. I really liked having a self-bar like this. When you're eating sundae-guk and think,
I wish I had just a little more…
you can just go grab as much as you want.
Paldam Sundae also notes that since their broth is made by simmering bones for a long time, small impurities may appear in the broth. It's explained that this isn't from added extract or powder, but a natural result of long bone-simmering.

Three kinds of handmade sundae: ginseng, blood and chili
We also ordered the handmade assorted sundae I'd been curious about. The sundae that came out that day was:
- Ginseng sundae
- Blood sundae
- Cheongyang chili sundae
Three kinds in total. Rather than just eating one type, it was fun to try each one since they all tasted different.

Being handmade sundae clearly made a difference from the usual store-bought kind. The ginseng sundae had a faint, subtle ginseng aroma, the blood sundae had that distinctively rich flavor, and the cheongyang chili sundae had a bit of a spicy kick that I also liked. If you're going with a sundae-loving friend, trying one of each would be a fun way to go.

Why Paldam Sundae is the name locals give for Seokmo-ri
Honestly, before visiting, with everyone around me raving about it, I kept thinking,
How good could it possibly be to be this famous?
But after eating it myself, I got a pretty good sense of why so many people come here.

The suyuk was especially tender, the spicy sundae-guk was delicious too, and with the handmade assorted sundae on top, the whole meal felt satisfyingly full. And having the organ meat self-bar to add whatever cut I wanted to the soup was a fun touch, too.

Is Paldam Sundae worth it if you're eating in Gimpo?
This visit started as a quick stop near where I was picking up my car on my friend's birthday, but it turned into finally trying a place I'd been curious about for a long time. Paldam Sundae kept coming up whenever people talked about good sundae-guk spots in Gimpo, and now that I've tried it myself, I know I'll be thinking about it again. If you love suyuk, the sous vide head meat is definitely worth trying. And if you want both sundae-guk and handmade sundae, ordering a variety to share worked out well for us.
Thanks to my friend's birthday, I got a proper, delicious lunch out of it. Next time I want to try other menu items too. If you're searching for good restaurants in Jangi-dong or Gimpo and find yourself craving sundae-guk, this place is worth a visit. Since it does get busy, I'll definitely book a remote wait on CatchTable again next time. Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch, the Seongmo-ri favorite I'd always wondered about — after finally tasting it myself, I understood exactly why people kept talking about it.
