After successfully losing 10kg, I pay even more attention to my diet than when I was actively losing weight, and that's had me making the rounds of poke restaurants around Munjeong. I was getting tired of the same old poke sauces, and while looking around I found that Olla Poke Munjeong Main Branch drizzles on >>buldak sauce<<, so I couldn't not go 🤍🪽🪽

Even before I moved to Songpa-gu, I knew Munjeong Legal Town had lots of good restaurants, but seeing it in person, it's really well set up...! Right before this I lived in Magongnaru, but Munjeong Station felt much more like a new-town area 😌 It has that Songdo + Shinsegae Gangnam basement vibe!

What does the buldak salmon poke taste like without mayo?

I've seen buldak mayo salmon poke all over social media, but this was the first time I saw poke with only buldak sauce and no mayo at all (since I'm not really a fan of mayonnaise ㅠ.ㅠ). True to a good poke restaurant in Munjeong, the salmon at Olla Poke Munjeong Main Branch was savory and springy, and the special buldak sauce had an addictive spiciness! 🤤

What's amazing about Olla Poke at Munjeong Station is that they make every sauce in-house. Even the soy sauce is boiled from scratch, and the buldak salmon poke I ate was also made with their own special buldak sauce, apparently. The spice level is the sniffly, sniffly kind as you eat.

I noticed the salmon pieces were chunkier than what you get at chain poke restaurants...! Apparently the salmon comes from a specialty supplier in Incheon, and the tuna from a cold-storage supplier, both delivered fresh every morning. Freshness, check! There's a reason the owner is confident about the taste and quality.

Mixing it all together, I felt the range of basic toppings was really, really much wider than other good poke restaurants — corn, pineapple, seaweed, chickpeas, onion, and so on (all things I love 🤤🤤🤤) (of course you can ask to leave out toppings you don't like!). With so many toppings, you might worry about freshness, but they apparently buy wholesale at Garak Market every single morning! The vegetables are pesticide-free too, and a specialty company does 3D ultrasonic washing, apparently — wow.

A spicy, savory pre-meal tomato soup made with whole tomatoes, potato, onion, and carrot. I got my poke spicy, but I think this would pair even better with menu items like the super protein poke or fried tofu poke, which might feel a bit heavy on their own!

Solo dining tables and what the restaurant provides

The dining room at Olla Poke Munjeong Main Branch could seat about 15 tables' worth of people in total, and there were also tables set up for solo diners.
