The place opens at 11, and we got there around 11:20 on a weekend — the lot was already about half full. By the time we finished eating, it was completely full, haha. This place must be seriously popular.

The storefront and the 2F kids' café

The second floor seems to be a kids' café — a sign says admission is ₩6,000 for children. There's also a free kids' room inside the restaurant itself!

How long is the weekend wait at Boksakkot Pineun Jip?

By around noon on weekends, a line starts forming at Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch. There was no wait when I went in, but by the time we finished eating (around noon), the queue was up to number 9. If you're visiting on a weekend, come right around opening time to avoid waiting!!

The photo above is the private room. You can use this room for group reservations — it can seat up to 56 people. Seems like a good spot for group gatherings or company dinners.

The main hall is spacious too. Being a family-friendly restaurant, baby chairs are placed all over.

Something families with kids will love! There's a kids' room inside the restaurant. The little ones were having a great time playing, haha.

Self-serve corner: free refills of drinks, rice and seaweed soup

One reason Boksakkot Pineun Jip is so popular is this self-serve bar,

Seaweed soup, scorched rice tea, rice. Plus japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) and various side dishes too.

We ordered from the kiosk at each table.

A gorgeous spread came out! Ordering the set for 2+ includes pizza, and the set is made up of main dish + pizza + salad + rice.

Fire-grilled octopus stir-fry for two with cabbage

This is the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry for two. Cabbage was mixed in. Even at spice level 1, it was a bit spicy — level 2 is apparently 1.5 times spicier than Shin Ramyun, so keep that in mind when ordering!

Mixing the octopus, bean sprouts and seaweed flakes into rice

I only put half a bowl of rice in, since the portion was already plenty. The octopus was lightly blanched so it stayed tender. This time I had the octopus, so next time I'd like to try the webfoot octopus stir-fry!

You can choose between pepperoni or gorgonzola pizza. A serving robot delivers it partway through the meal, haha.

Fresh-baked gorgonzola wood-fired pizza included in the set

The gorgonzola pizza, served steaming from the wood-fired oven

The pizza was so good. Fresh out of the oven, the cheese stretched way out — dipping it in honey made it even more delicious, haha. My parents loved the gorgonzola pizza here too. I felt so proud.

Handmade pork cutlet, 12,000 won

The cutlet is quite thick. Something really great here is that they give you a generous amount of rice with the cutlet. At every other cutlet place I've been, the rice portion is so small I always end up wanting more, which is annoying. But here, they give you plenty of rice from the start. Plus you can grab more rice from the self-serve bar, so no worries about running out!

The cutlet was thick yet tender, and easy to eat.

A free parfait through the Naver review event

If you write a Naver receipt review, you get one free parfait ice cream! (*once per table). Definitely worth doing, right? Haha. Of course you can also buy one separately — parfait ₩4,000, Richmond ₩3,000, ice bar ₩1,000.

Retro snacks displayed next to the ice cream freezer

They also sell retro snacks, haha.

Free café after the meal: one takeout cup per person

This is genuinely amazing — there's a takeout café inside the restaurant, and it's free. One takeout cup per person. Everyone grabs a cup after their meal without fail!!

Menu board for the free café drinks

Here's the café menu! There's a wide variety of drinks, so even people who don't like coffee can enjoy something.

Another amazing thing — there's a separate building right next to the restaurant where you can enjoy your takeout coffee along with free snacks provided by Boksakkot Pineun Jip.

Spacious, clean dining space with a full glass wall

It's bigger and cleaner than expected. There's a full glass wall, and the outdoor seats were popular too.

Free retro Korean snacks on the way out

Corner offering free retro snacks

Retro snacks were provided for free. This must be one reason Boksakkot Pineun Jip is so popular — there were a lot of families visiting with young kids, and a lot of older folks too. How could you not love it, when coffee, snacks and ice cream are all free?

A variety of retro snacks served in paper cups

There's a good variety too. Just fill up a paper cup from the ones set out beside them with as much as you want!

I got a free parfait from the review event, haha. On the right is a hot Americano.
