On a weekend I asked Dani what she wanted for lunch and she said pork cutlet, but honestly I was craving something spicy. So I went searching and found a Yuseong-gu, Daejeon spot with both spicy octopus stir-fry AND pork cutlet — Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch 🤍

A 12-team Tabling wait at 1pm, with easy parking
This Daejeon octopus spot is in Gyesan-dong, about a 40-minute drive from Sejong :) On the way I checked and found out you can join the remote queue through the Tabling app! When I opened it, even past 1pm there were already 12 teams waiting, so I joined the queue right away and hit the road.
When we arrived there was a spacious dedicated lot plus temporary overflow parking, so parking was a breeze. Inside there's a separate waiting area, and it was packed with people when we got there! If you can't reserve through Tabling, you can just queue here in person.

Full house at 2pm, plus a kids' room inside Boksakkot Pineun Jip
We got there at 2pm, and walking in to see every single table full confirmed this really is a Yuseong-gu favorite. It was my first visit, so I was so curious what the food would taste like ✨ It was so crowded at first that I ended up taking interior photos after the meal instead.

Even with that many customers, the space was kept clean and well-managed, and there were enough staff clearing tables quickly that turnover looked fast. With everything from 4-person tables to group seating, it's a great space for couples, families, or big groups.
And since there's a kids' room, it's also perfect for coming with young children 🤍
Menu at Boksakkot Pineun Jip: fire-grilled dishes to kids' spaghetti
The menu covers fire-grilled pork, octopus, and long-arm octopus stir-fries, octopus cheese pasta, mushroom bulgogi hot pot, octopus with bulgogi, and braised short ribs. Side dishes include handmade sirloin pork cutlet, king shrimp tempura, and kids' spaghetti — plenty to satisfy adults and kids alike, making it a great choice for families! And ordering for 2 or more gets you a free pizza 👍🏻

Side dishes and the salad bar
The basic side dishes pair well with the mains, and the cool mukjabap (cold acorn jelly salad) and the fresh salad are great for cutting the heat after a bite of spicy stir-fry 🤍 Of the basic banchan, the yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) was seriously delicious :)

Extra side dishes are neatly set up at the self-serve bar so you can help yourself, plus there's scorched rice tea, seaweed soup, rice, and soda! Ice cream and snacks are available for an extra fee.
What we ordered and how the table looked
- Fire-grilled octopus stir-fry - spice level 2 (₩16,900)
- Fire-grilled pork stir-fry - spice level 2 (₩14,900)
- Handmade sirloin pork cutlet (₩12,000)

Once the pizza arrived too, our 4-person table was completely packed 🤍 You can order each dish as a single portion, so we got both octopus and pork separately! The sirloin cutlet came with the sauce on the side, which kept it crispier and was perfect for Dani, who's not a fan of sauce :)
Fire-grilled webfoot octopus stir-fry at spice level 2
I couldn't believe that was one portion!! Such a generous amount ✨ The spice comes in 3 levels, and level 2 is described as about 1.5 times spicier than Shin Ramyun, which turned out to be perfectly, deliciously spicy 🤍 True to a good Sutonggol restaurant, the octopus had a slight smoky char and was well coated in sauce — so good.
The octopus was plump and really chewy 🤍 Mixing the rice with seaweed flakes and bean sprouts and octopus was absolute heaven... total rice thief 👍🏻

Fire-grilled pork stir-fry at spice level 2
We also ordered the smoky pork stir-fry at spice level 2, and the cabbage inside was nice and crunchy with no gamey smell from the meat — really tasty 🤍

The moderate spice mixed with rice made it clear they're great at pork stir-fry too ✨ The meat was well-seasoned and tender 🤍
Handmade sirloin pork cutlet for the kids
The pork cutlet Dani wanted!! I was surprised the moment it arrived — it was huge haha. Because normally, Dani can finish a whole meal with just one strip of cutlet. Which meant we'd have to finish the rest, and there was a LOT 👍🏻
But one bite in and it was so good I kept reaching for more!! Dunking the crispy, juicy cutlet into the sesame-packed sauce was totally my type, so I kept alternating — bite of octopus stir-fry, bite of cutlet, on repeat 😖💛

The free pizza with orders for two or more
And when you order for 2 or more, you get a free pizza. This is genuinely a place you'll eat until you're stuffed haha. I thought there was no way we'd have room for pizza — but the moment we took a bite, both my husband and I said, wow, this pizza is actually good. Even the pizza is great here..🤍

Coffee at the café next door after lunch
And it's not over yet!! After eating, you can order a drink here and pick it up at the café in the building right next door 👍🏻

We ordered an Americano, an iced tea, and a vanilla latte haha

With a cozy, well-kept vibe and even an outdoor terrace — is this not just a café on its own..🤍 There were even retro snacks you could help yourself to, and Dani happily scooped some into a paper cup ✨

With delicious octopus, a hearty spread, and a walk near Sutonggol afterward, Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch is a Yuseong-gu, Daejeon spot that's great for dates or family outings — you'll definitely leave satisfied ✨
