Gajeong pork grill house with hangover ramyeon finish: Euljiro Yeontan

In short

Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork restaurant 401m from exit 6 of Gajeong Station in Seohae, Incheon, where pork is ordered in 100g increments. The writer's family shared the 600g dwaeji hangeun pork platter with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), rice, grilled marshmallows and a closing bowl of haejang ramyeon (hangover ramen), while the icy radish salad and bean sprout soup cut the richness. With 3-hour parking and a self-serve bar, Euljiro Yeontan Gui makes an easy family dinner out.

Looking for a good meat restaurant near Gajeong Station to have dinner with Jane on the weekend, we ended up at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch. I'd never had charcoal-grilled meat before, so I was curious — apparently here you can order pork in 100g portions, so you get to try lots of different cuts. It also has seafood on the menu alongside the meat, which made it even more interesting.

We drove there, and parking was available for up to 3 hours, so Jane and I had a relaxed meal, played a claw machine, and even took a walk around the neighborhood before heading back :) We ordered the dwaeji hangeun (pork platter) and worked through pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, skirt meat, pork back meat and pork skin, plus marshmallows, pineapple, and finished it off with hangang ramyeon. Here's our review of this meat restaurant near Gajeong Station that we visited with our kid 😊

What Euljiro Yeontan Gui near Gajeong Station looks like inside

Euljiro Yeontan Gui has a retro vibe. Even from the entrance, the green accent color caught my eye.

Stepping inside, even the menu board had that old-school feel, and every round table had its own charcoal burner built in, giving it a different atmosphere from the usual meat restaurants you see these days. We visited on a weekend evening and saw other families around too — a comfortable enough vibe for dining with a kid.

Why ordering pork in 100g portions works so well

What I liked about Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch was that you can order meat in 100g portions. Usually at meat restaurants you have to order a set base amount of one item, but here you can pick smaller amounts of whichever cut you want. That suited our family well since we wanted to try a bunch of different things.

There was a wide range of pork dishes, plus beef and seafood too, so there were plenty of options to choose from. After some deliberation we ordered the dwaeji hangeun (pork platter), rice, doenjang jjigae, and marshmallows. And by the time we finished with haejang ramyeon at the end, we were seriously full :)

We thought about ordering grilled scallops too, but ended up too full to manage it, which was a little disappointing. Next time we visit, I definitely want to try the seafood, like scallops or abalone. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Gajeong-dong and want to try a variety of meat cuts, this place is worth considering.

Self-serve bar, side dishes and the icy radish salad

After ordering, we waited a bit and the side dishes came out first — bean sprouts, kimchi, lettuce, pickled onions, salt, ssamjang, and perilla leaf salad, quite the variety. Anything missing, you could grab yourself from the self-serve bar.

Pickled onions, garlic, chili peppers, and pickled radish were all there for the taking :) While browsing the self-serve bar, I spotted pineapple, which Jane loves. We decided to grab some and grill it along with the meat :) We also grabbed some extra bean sprouts and chili peppers, and finally, the meat we'd been waiting for arrived.

The owner brought us icy radish salad, telling us it's best eaten while still slightly frozen — and eating it in that half-frozen state was crisp and refreshing. It really helped cut through the richness of the meat, so I kept reaching for it.

Along with the doenjang jjigae, they also brought soybean sprout soup, which was spicy and refreshing — perfect to eat between bites of meat.

What comes on the 600g dwaeji hangeun pork platter

The dwaeji hangeun (pork platter) we ordered was 600g total, letting us enjoy pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, skirt meat, and pork back meat, plus a complimentary serving of pork skin. Having all these different cuts on one plate made for a hearty-looking spread.

We started with pork belly and pork neck, along with the pineapple Jane loves, and put them on the charcoal grill.

As the meat started to cook, that distinctive, gentle charcoal smokiness and savory aroma rose up.

For the first bite, of course, we dipped it in salt, and the meat's own savory flavor really came through. Next we tried it with the icy radish salad — the cool, crisp radish was clean and paired well. The pork neck was mild and tender, and grilling it over charcoal gave the surface a nice golden char with good chewiness.

I usually like pork belly anyway, but grilled over charcoal like this, with that subtle smoky flavor added, it had a whole different charm.

After the pork belly and pork neck, we moved on to grilling pork jowl, skirt meat, and pork back meat.

Rather than eating just one cut over and over, switching between different cuts kept things from getting monotonous and made me keep eating. I think menu variety really matters when looking for a good meat restaurant near Gajeong Station.

At the end, we also grilled the complimentary pork skin. We dipped the golden-grilled skin into soybean powder, and the chewy texture combined with the nutty powder was delicious. Eating the pork skin after all the meat made us feel like we'd properly enjoyed the full charcoal-grilling experience.

Grilled pineapple and marshmallows, the kids' favourite

We also lightly grilled the pineapple Jane loves over the charcoal. Once warmed, it felt like the sweetness deepened, making it a great dessert-like bite after the meat :)

We also lightly grilled marshmallows over the charcoal :) There were 3, so we each had one ෆ Turning them slowly over the charcoal made the outside golden while the inside melted soft, and Jane had a lot of fun grilling them herself. If you're looking for a good place in Gajeong-dong to visit with kids, these little fun moments make it worthwhile.

Finishing the meal with haejang ramyeon

We were already pretty full, but my husband wanted to try the haejang ramyeon (hangover ramen) at the end, so we ordered it. Finishing off with the ramyeon left us truly stuffed •ᴗ•

We initially thought about trying the grilled scallops too, but after the pork platter, doenjang jjigae, rice, marshmallows, and ramyeon, we were simply too full and ended up not getting to the seafood. Since this place sells seafood alongside the meat, it seems like a good spot for meat lovers and seafood lovers to visit together.

This time, eating the dwaeji hangeun let us try a wide variety of cuts — pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, skirt meat, pork back meat, and pork skin all at once, so we didn't have to pick each menu item separately, which I really liked. We visited looking for a place to eat out with our kid on a weekend evening, and it ended up being a more relaxed meal than expected.

In particular, grilling meat over charcoal was fun in itself, and Jane really enjoyed grilling the marshmallows herself. If you want to try lots of different pork cuts in one sitting, this meat restaurant near Gajeong Station is worth considering. It was a day where Jane and I ate our fill — from the pork platter to pineapple, marshmallows, and hangang ramyeon 🤍
