In short

Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Ruwon City, Gajeong-dong, Seohae, Incheon, where the owner grills thick-cut black pork over a coal fire at the table. A family of three ordered the 200g ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) plus 400g pork neck set and ate it with Sinan sea salt and house-made ssamjang, along with complimentary bomb egg soufflé and mukbap (chilled acorn jelly soup). Charcoal-grilled black pork at Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch

There are so many BBQ restaurants out there, but I think there's always a reason you go back to one you've already visited haha😊 I went back again with my husband and kid to Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul, a restaurant in Gajeong-dong, Incheon I'd already blogged about before. It's the kind of place where they grill thick-cut black pork over charcoal, and the owner grills it perfectly for you, so all we had to do was eat comfortably! Especially when we bit into the well-cooked pork neck and the juices burst out, I thought — yep, glad we came back😋

What a family of three ordered: 200g pork belly + 400g pork neck

This time our family ordered the set with pork belly 200g and pork neck 400g. It was a good combo for my husband, me and our kid to enjoy both cuts evenly.

The moment the meat came out, the thickness caught my eye right away! Black pork really needs some thickness to properly deliver those juices. If you're looking for a Gajeong-dong restaurant and care about meat quality, this one's worth keeping in mind.

One thing I really like about Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul is that they grill over charcoal. Just watching the thick cuts sizzle and cook on the grill got my mouth watering.

Above all, it's so convenient that the owner grills it for us. When you're out with a kid looking for a good Gajeong-dong, Incheon restaurant, this kind of thing matters more than you'd think. Between tending to the kid, flipping the meat, and checking if it's done, sometimes mom and dad don't even get to eat properly😂 But here, the owner grills everything perfectly, so we could relax and eat while taking care of our kid.

So juicy: how the pork belly and pork neck tasted

The nicely browned meat gets cut into bite-sized pieces for you. The pork belly had a good balance of fat and lean meat, savory with every chew.

And the pork neck! Even though it's thick, it's not dry at all — one bite and the juices just burst out. Plus that subtle smoky flavor from the charcoal! Eating a well-grilled piece of black pork, I understood exactly why we came back to this Gajeong-dong restaurant haha

Sinan sea salt and house-made ssamjang at Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul

At restaurants where the meat is good, the salt and ssamjang (soybean-chili dipping paste) you eat it with matter more than you'd think. At Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul, they use Sinan sea salt with the meat too. Dipping a well-grilled piece lightly in the salt let me taste the meat's natural savoriness and juices even more cleanly.

And personally, I loved the ssamjang! It's homemade, they said, and it tastes totally different from store-bought — went really well with the meat. Wrapping the meat in a lettuce leaf with a bit of the homemade ssamjang on top was a treat on its own😋

Soju for my husband, beer for me

With meat this good, you can't not have a drink haha. Soju for my husband, cold beer for me! Biting into a juicy piece of pork neck and taking a sip of beer — that combo just never fails. My husband enjoyed his soju, and with our kid there too, the three of us had a proper family dinner out.

Bomb egg soufflé and mukbap come free

There was something else I loved. The bomb egg soufflé and mukbap come complimentary! The puffed-up egg soufflé was soft and warm, great to eat alongside the meat, and it was kid-friendly too.

The mukbap, on the other hand, is cool and refreshing — a bite of it between rounds of meat cleanses your palate nicely. Warm egg soufflé and cool mukbap made a great pairing too.

Baby chairs make this Gajeong-dong BBQ spot easy with kids

One more thing that'll make parents happy — they have a baby chair ready. A lot of people checking out BBQ places with a kid look for baby chairs first thing.

With a baby chair on hand and the owner grilling the meat for you, it was a comfortable spot for a family dinner out with our kid. So if you're looking for a kid-friendly option among Gajeong-dong, Incheon restaurants, this could be a solid choice.

Why we came back to this Gajeong-dong, Incheon restaurant

This wasn't my first visit — I'd been before and blogged about it back then too. Coming back after some time and eating it again, the juiciness of the thick black pork and the charcoal aroma were still just as good.

It's easy since the owner grills everything for you, it tastes great with a light dip in Sinan sea salt, and the homemade ssamjang was delicious too. With the free egg soufflé and mukbap, this family dinner out with our kid was satisfying😊 My husband had soju, I had beer, and we both ate our fill of pork belly and pork neck.

If you're looking for a Gajeong-dong, Incheon restaurant, or craving charcoal-grilled black pork on any given day, Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul — a Gajeong-dong restaurant where they grill it for you — might be worth checking out. Like us, once you visit, you might find yourself thinking about it again❤️
