I've been craving spicy monkfish stew lately, and I heard a new hot-plate seafood stew and agu-jjim spot with corn cheese and flat dumplings opened in Cheongna, so I rushed over. I even finished it off with fried rice — let me tell you in detail how good it was!

Where is Haemul Teukbyeolsi Cheongna Direct Branch, and where do you park?

Haemul Teukbyeolsi Cheongna Direct Branch is a hot-plate seafood stew and agu-jjim place near Cheongna Canalway. It looked like about 6 cars could park in front of the store, and if that's full there's alley parking nearby, so driving over was no problem at all!

Cheongna's go-to seafood stew spot Haemul Teukbyeolsi started at the Bucheon Station main branch and, thanks to its proven taste, has become beloved enough to open here in Cheongna too! I was already sold by the whole squid photo on the exterior, and the lunch specials looked varied too. Apparently if you come between 11:30–14:30, you can enjoy things like kalguksu (noodle soup), spicy pollack roe soup, and agu-jjim set meals at a good price ><

Inside Haemul Teukbyeolsi: seating and the private room

Here's the interior of Haemul Teukbyeolsi, a seafood stew favorite in Seohae. Since it hasn't been open long, the inside was really clean!

I went early on a weekday with a reservation, so there weren't many customers yet, but as evening approached, a lot of people came in for drinks haha. There were plenty of tables inside too, so it looked totally fine for a group gathering in Cheongna!

Another charming point about Haemul Teukbyeolsi! ⭐️It has a private room.⭐️

Looking inside the room, it was much more spacious than I expected. If you're planning a family gathering in Cheongna or dining with little ones, booking the Haemul Teukbyeolsi room ahead of time would make for a really comfortable meal ^_^ Highly recommend for anyone looking for a restaurant with a room in Cheongna!👍🏻

Looking around, there was a self-serve bar with side dishes and small plates, and it was super convenient to just help yourself.

Menu and prices: what the agu-jjim set costs

Here's the menu board at Haemul Teukbyeolsi, a favorite for agu-jjim in Cheongna. Besides the lunch specials, the main menu had whole squid seafood stew, agu-jjim, algoni (roe and milt) jjim, and seafood soup — all served as full sets, so basic sides of clam soup, hot-plate corn cheese, and flat dumplings came with everything. Talk about value!!!!

Spicy agu-jjim and seafood stew with corn cheese and flat dumplings...? Just looking at it, the combo seemed insane >< And interestingly, Haemul Teukbyeolsi lets you change to boneless agu-jjim?

  • Hot-plate agu-jjim set (small) - ₩43,000
  • Boneless change +₩2,000
  • Self-fried rice - ₩3,000

Side dishes and the taster clam soup

Here are the basic side dishes at Haemul Teukbyeolsi in Cheongna. Including green onion kimchi, the sides paired really well with the spicy seafood stew. Pickled hot peppers, pickled cucumber, white kimchi!

Sample clam soup with scallops

And here's another reason Haemul Teukbyeolsi was bound to be good — this sample clam soup! As you can see, it has big scallops and cheongyang chili peppers in it, so the broth was so refreshingly spicy. Apparently you can even order kalguksu noodles to add to it. Nice.

Individually wrapped hygienic utensils

And the utensils at Haemul Teukbyeolsi came individually wrapped from a hygienic utensil supplier. Having visited many restaurants, this kind of detail really shows the owner's sense of hygiene, and Haemul Teukbyeolsi's store itself was clean too, which I loved.

Free hot-plate corn cheese and flat dumplings

The Haemul Teukbyeolsi set comes with hot-plate corn cheese and flat dumplings included for free. My beloved corn cheese!!!! Even when it's a paid side dish elsewhere, I always order it — so getting it free as part of the set was such a blessing ㅠ.ㅠ❤️ Pairing it with the spicy agu-jjim was pure heaven.

And then the next item in the set arrived — flat dumplings. It was my first time trying flat dumplings, and I could already tell they'd be delicious wrapped around agu-jjim. They were freshly cooked, so crispy!

Boneless hot-plate agu-jjim at medium spice: how hot is it?

Oh yes, the agu-jjim at Haemul Teukbyeolsi, a favorite for monkfish stew in Incheon, has arrived! It came fully cooked so you could dig right in, and being on a hot plate meant it stayed warm all the way through!

The monkfish stomach had no fishy smell and was so chewy and delicious, and especially since I'm obsessed with algoni, having plenty of it in there made me so happy ㅠ_ㅠ!!!!

And since I switched to boneless agu-jjim, I could just enjoy the plump monkfish meat without the hassle of picking out bones — so convenient.

Boneless agu-jjim wrapped in minari

Wrapping it in minari (water dropwort) like this is unbeatable!!! I picked the medium spice level, and it was exactly the right amount of spicy, so I was completely satisfied ^.^ Look how generous this portion is, right?😝

Generously portioned agu-jjim set

The signature move at Haemul Teukbyeolsi, a seafood stew favorite in Cheongna — wrapping agu-jjim in the flat dumplings!!!! The dumplings are crispy and nutty, so they really went well with the spicy agu-jjim haha. I think I'll miss these flat dumplings whenever I go elsewhere ㅜㅜ

Finishing with self-fried rice for 3,000 won

Lastly, the K-dessert that no agu-jjim meal is complete without — fried rice~~~ It tasted like they added an extra touch of smoky flavor on top, so good. There was minari chopped in too, so I enjoyed every last bite!

The owner was so kind, which made this place even more memorable. For anyone in Cheongna looking for a place for a date, family gathering, or work dinner, I highly recommend Haemul Teukbyeolsi, a go-to spot for agu-jjim in Cheongna!

  • Clam soup, flat dumplings, and corn cheese included
  • A value-packed full set menu
  • Private room available for family gatherings and dining with kids
  • Hot-plate seafood stew that stays warm to the last bite
