Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul, a Gajeong-dong favorite From aged black pork to naengmyeon
We were looking for somewhere to eat with my parents and my husband and son, and that's exactly where we ended up — Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul, a Ruwon City favorite!!

Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul was famous near the Paju Premium Outlets, and I heard they'd newly opened a branch in Gajeong-dong's Ruwon City too, so I was curious :)
Where is Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul Gajeong Ruwon City Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Why we chose Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul in Ruwon City
Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul dry-ages Jirisan black pork for 7 days, cuts it thick, and grills it over charcoal briquettes. Aged black pork plus charcoal fire — my meat-loving family couldn't not go, haha. Especially since it was a meal with my parents and my kid, we wanted a menu everyone could enjoy without any fuss ^^
Inside the restaurant
A clean, comfortable, spacious dining room!! There's also a self-serve bar where you can grab whatever you need yourself.
Menu and what three generations ordered

We ordered 3 servings of Jirisan black pork plus pork neck and pork belly, and added naengmyeon, egg soufflé, and rice on top ^^

They give you a full-size naengmyeon for free through the Naver receipt review event!! Don't miss it ><
Side dish setup and the briquette charcoal mood

Charcoal fire ㅠㅠㅠㅠ it's just so good. Meat grilled over charcoal basically can't be bad — a guaranteed 200% win.

The basic side dishes came out like this and we kept refilling whatever ran low! The mukbap-style acorn jelly soup ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ so good.

Kyaaaaa the meat we ordered!!!! Isn't the quality great? Just looking at it, the color and freshness made me happy.
Staff grill the black pork for you
What I loved most was that they grill the meat for you!!! At a lot of BBQ places, one person ends up stuck grilling the whole time and can't really join the conversation, breaking up the flow of the meal. At Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul you get to just relax and eat perfectly grilled meat, which made me think it'd be great with my parents or with my kid, haha.
The service was so good and it was so easy to enjoy the meat — such a satisfying meal time ♥

The bomb egg soufflé also came out, and my son and the whole family gobbled it up happily. Well seasoned, warm, fluffy, delicious bbb

What made it work as a family dinner
We ate black pork along with egg soufflé, naengmyeon, and doenjang jjigae, and every single side dish was satisfying too. The meat was full of juice, so tender it melted in your mouth — genuinely moving :-)

Want a bite of the thick aged black pork~~? It's delicious plain, or even better with a little wasabi or myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves)^^

From the meat to the side dishes to the meal menu, everything suited our family's tastes across the board. The idea that they cook 'with the same care as if feeding my own family' didn't feel like just a saying.
Even while writing this post I'm craving it again. Officially a Ruwon City favorite.
Who Heukdwaeji Hyeongjedeul suits best
- Anyone in Gajeong-dong wanting to try aged black pork!!
- Anyone who wants to eat comfortably without grilling the meat themselves!!
- Anyone looking for a Ruwon City spot for a family meal with their parents

You can have a hearty, filling meal, and the service, taste, and quality were all great.

We slurped down mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for dessert~~ from thick aged black pork to meljeot (fermented sauce), egg soufflé, naengmyeon, and jjigae, we ate our fill, hehe. Hope this helps anyone looking for a place where multiple generations can eat out together, like my family did ♥
