Today I visited a restaurant near Resom Forest in Jecheon: Deojinji. The parking lot was huge, and just from the outside I figured the restaurant inside would be spacious too! Here's my review of Deojinji, a Jecheon Resom Forest favorite!!! 😍

Clean table setting and generous banchan, including free crab

Deojinji gives each person their own porcelain bowl along with two bottles of water, which made it nice and clean to serve yourself individually. Even the chopsticks came hygienically wrapped in paper!!! 😆

The banchan (side dishes) were generous too, and you can top up whatever's missing at the self-serve bar! I was so pleased that they included doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and even both yangnyeom (seasoned) and ganjang (soy sauce) gejang (crab) as standard!!! 🦀 I love yangnyeom gejang so I dug in happily. 😍

Ordering 2 Damyang-style pork galbi and 2 mul naengmyeon

So what did we order?? 2 Damyang-style pork galbi (rice included) and 2 mul naengmyeon. Ordering the Damyang-style pork galbi gets you a free bowl of rice included! 🍚 The rice comes in a porcelain bowl too, so I felt like I was being treated to something special eating it. Every dish and every bowl here felt like it had real care put into it.

The Damyang-style pork galbi is domestic pork ribs grilled over charcoal and served ready to eat!! I loved that I didn't have to grill it myself and could just dig in right away. 😍

Mul naengmyeon with a mild, icy broth like Pyongyang naengmyeon

The mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) was mild and refreshing with icy bits floating in it!! It genuinely tasted like pyongyang naengmyeon broth. My husband and in-laws said the noodles were delicious and wished there was a naengmyeon place like this near home. And honestly, what more is there to say?! (The meat-and-naengmyeon combo is unbeatable!!!) Eat them together and the whole meal disappears in no time. Highly recommend this savory naengmyeon!!!

The best bite: chili dadagi plus peanut mayo sauce

The chili dadagi seasoning was nicely spicy, and the meat dipped into the house special sauce was great too. It was so good I wanted to eat it again right away!!😆 It looked like thinly sliced cheongyang chili peppers, and paired with the charcoal-grilled meat it had this sharp, punchy flavor that was just amazing! And then there was what seemed like a peanut mayo sauce(?), which was also incredibly good. It's the addictive kind of flavor you keep going back for!!! For me, the charcoal-grilled meat with chili dadagi and peanut mayo sauce(?) was hands down the tastiest combination. 👍
