Why add Nillai Gimpo Branch to a Ganghwado drive?
Nillai Gimpo Branch is a rice-field-view café on Gimpo-daero in Wolgot-myeon, Gimpo, Gyeonggi — a great stop along a Ganghwado drive route. It was a get-together day with Mom and my sister, so the three of us went for a drive to Ganghwado to get some fresh air for once.
We stopped for a delicious lunch at a famous spicy stir-fried duck place in Ganghwado, then headed straight to our next stop, which I'd already scouted out: the Gimpo rice-field-view café Nillai Gimpo Branch.
I've actually visited The Nillai in Yangchon many times before, so it's a familiar place, but this was my first time at the Ganghwado-area café Nillai Gimpo Branch. I'd only seen it in Instagram and blog photos and kept thinking I had to go someday, and this trip with Mom and my sister lined up perfectly, so I headed there without hesitation.
For parking, you can park in the space beside the café or along the road in front.

The outdoor terrace at Nillai Gimpo Branch has a small pool, with rice-field and mountain views stretching out right in front. Seeing it in person, it was so much bigger and prettier than in the photos I'd seen — I couldn't help but gasp. With not a hint of city noise, the view of green mountains and wide-open rice fields was so refreshing to look at.
The indoor space was also bright and clean, with sunlight pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the seats were spaced far apart so it never felt crowded even with other guests around.
The weather was perfect for sitting outside that day, so without any hesitation we picked an outdoor table to enjoy the view too. Sitting outside, we could hear the gentle, cool sound of water from the small pool, with mountain and rice-field views right in front — it really was pure healing. Sitting there feeling the breeze, all my everyday stress just melted away!
Ades and the bakery trio at Nillai: prices and taste
At Nillai Gimpo Branch, the three of us ordered pink lemon ade (₩7,500), chuhee-ok plum ade (₩7,500), omija tea (₩5,500), and a bakery trio (₩9,500). We settled into our seats, and before long the food arrived.

My pick, the pink lemon ade! Bursting with tangy lemon flavor plus refreshing carbonation, it put me in a great mood the moment I took a sip. The fruit chip on top was a nice touch!
My sister's pick, the plum ade. A deep, rich plum flavor comes through, and she said the thinly sliced fresh plum pieces were a delicious bonus to bite into. If you're an ade lover, this one seems like a must-try.
Mom's pick, the omija tea, came warm and sweet-and-tart, and she loved it, saying it had exactly the clean flavor she likes.
The croissant was properly crisp outside and soft inside, and the salt bread had that classic combo of nutty butter aroma and salty finish, textbook-perfect. The peanut bread was nutty with every bite too — a successful bakery lineup all around.
However we snapped photos, every random shot came out looking like an aesthetic one, so Mom, my sister, and I kept taking turns photographing each other — our phone cameras got no rest haha. They were in the middle of building a wooden deck terrace on one side of the outdoor space, and when I checked the café's website later, it turned out to be already finished. Seeing it complete makes me want to visit again soon, ha.
Nillai is also known for its brunch menu, like an original burger made by a chef formerly of the 63 Building and a spicy-fired octopus rice bowl, so next time I'll save some room and go for the full course with brunch and roasted-bean coffee too.
A restful café near Seoul that works with kids and dogs
Nillai Gimpo Branch has a small outdoor pool and a space where kids can run around, and dogs are welcome too. It was the perfect place to escape the stuffy city and unwind in nature.
