First look at Nillai café in Gimpo

A Gimpo café to rest with family during a Ganghwa Island drive

I went out toward Ganghwa Island with my parents and younger sibling for a little fresh air. When you go to Ganghwa Island, you naturally end up taking your time over a meal and stopping by a café. We were looking for somewhere to go that day and found a spot where we could take care of both a meal and café visit at once, so we visited Nillai Gimpo Branch.

As we headed somewhere close to Ganghwa Island, it was a good place to stop during the drive. More than anything, the surroundings were quiet, so I thought it would be nice to visit with my parents. We came by car, parked in front of the building beside the café, and went in. Looking at the café after parking, I noticed a mini lawn-like space set up out front, and it gave a cuter first impression than I expected. On a nice day, even a little space like this makes you want to take a photo somehow, haha.

Once inside, the café was more spacious than I had expected. I liked that it was clean overall but still had an atmosphere where you could settle in comfortably.

There was especially a space at the back decorated to look like a swimming pool. No one was using it when I visited. We just had a quick look around and spent our time comfortably inside :) Having a space like this made it feel less like somewhere you simply drink coffee and leave, and more like somewhere nice to look around and rest for a bit. My parents were also looking around the café and taking in the different details.

I thought it would be a nice option if you are on a family drive toward Ganghwa Island and looking for somewhere quiet to rest. Maybe that is why I liked that the overall atmosphere that day felt calm and relaxed rather than crowded or hectic.

A varied menu, from brunch to burgers and pasta

Before sitting down, I looked over the menu first, and there were honestly far more options than I expected.

Nillai meal menu information

It is not just a typical café with coffee; there were burgers, pasta, rice bowls, brunch, and salads, so it looked perfectly fine for a meal too. Their signature items included the Nillai Latte, Nillai Schpanner, Nillai Original Burger, Triple Cheese Burger, 63 smoky spicy octopus rice bowl, and truffle cream pasta.

There were brunch options too, so I thought people looking for a good Ganghwa brunch spot would have quite a lot to choose from. The rice morning-bread garden brunch comes with rice flour breakfast rolls, bacon, sausage, eggs, and salad, and there was also a bagel avocado brunch that looked good for days when you want something light. With so many burgers and pasta dishes as well, it seemed like a good place when you want to handle both a meal and café stop in one place.

Then I noticed a mini bread corner by the counter, haha. If you love bread, it is hard to just walk past a corner like this, right? We were looking around when my mom said she wanted peanut bread, so we ordered one. When you go out as a family, it seems that if one person wants something, everyone ends up having it together, haha.

There was a mini toy corner too, haha.

Drinks picked to suit the family, plus peanut bread

That day, my mom ordered a hot Americano, I had an iced Americano, my dad chose an apple mango smoothie, my sibling had an Oreo shake, and we added the peanut bread my mom had wanted. We all wanted different drinks, so once we ordered, even the drinks alone were such a varied selection, haha.

I tend to order an iced Americano whenever I come to a café, so I chose it without hesitation that day too. My mom likes hot coffee, so she ordered a hot Americano. My dad likes something sweet and cold, so he picked the apple mango smoothie. My sibling, as expected, chose the Oreo shake, haha. It was an order that clearly showed how different each family member's tastes were.

Iced Americano

I tried my iced Americano first, and it was nice and clean to drink. Rather than feeling too heavy or intense, it was a refreshing coffee that was good to sip while chatting. Since we had stopped in during a drive toward Ganghwa Island, this kind of clean coffee actually suited me well.

A cup of hot Americano

My mom's hot Americano was easy and pleasant to drink too. With a warm cup of coffee in front of us, my parents and I chatted about this and that, and time passed at a very leisurely pace.

Apple mango smoothie

My dad's apple mango smoothie had mango's signature sweet, tangy flavor, which made it nice and refreshing. My dad said it was delicious, so I stole a sip too, haha. It was sweet with a real mango flavor, and I think it would be especially good on a hot day.

My sibling's Oreo shake was as sweet as expected, haha. It had that distinctly sweet Oreo flavor, so it was nice to drink almost like dessert. It seemed easy for coffee lovers and people who prefer sweet drinks to each choose something that suits their taste.

Nutty peanut bread snack

The peanut bread was soft and delicious, with a subtle nutty peanut flavor. They even gave us one rice cracker each on the house :) It was just right as a snack alongside the drinks.

A family outing with a meal and café stop in one

Nillai Gimpo Branch was where we stopped while out with my parents in Ganghwa Island and looking for somewhere quiet to rest. From the mini lawn out front to the little swimming-pool-like space inside, it was fun to look around too. Beyond coffee and drinks, the menu included brunch, burgers, pasta, rice bowls, salads, and bread, making it easy to enjoy a meal and café visit together.

Like my family, even if everyone wants something different, there were plenty of choices, which was convenient, haha. Most of all, I loved being able to spend time chatting leisurely with my parents in the quiet atmosphere that day. If you are looking for a Ganghwa café to stop at during a drive or somewhere that also offers brunch and meals, I think Nillai Gimpo Branch is worth adding to your list. We had a delicious time, drank coffee, and rested comfortably that day :)
