I was looking for lunch in Hongdae and wanted something filling, so I visited Yukjeon Gukbap Seogyo Branch (육전국밥 서교점), a spot I'd had my eye on as a Hongdae Station favorite. It's open 24 hours with no break time, so it seemed like a great place to visit any time of day haha. Here's my solo dining review!

Ordering was simple via table-order tablet! The meal section had gukbap (soup with rice), gomtang (bone broth soup), ttukbul (hot pot beef), makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles), and more.

I was really hungry that day, so I picked the set meal without hesitation 👍 The set lets you choose between yukjeon or wanja as an option, and I just couldn't resist yukjeon again… went straight for it haha.

Not long after ordering, three side dishes arrived right away — kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), kimchi, and pickled onions! Perfect pairings to go with gukbap.

The beef gukbap came out quickly 🫶 As always, I loved how the broth had that spicy kick.
From the very first spoonful, the broth tasted refreshing and instantly filling!
The gukbap was packed with meat, and even the radish, which adds that refreshing taste, was delicious‼️
Yukjeon served straight off the griddle
The yukjeon is grilled fresh the moment you order it. Eating it piping hot was really, really delicious and tender with no toughness at all. Take a spoonful of gukbap, top it with yukjeon — the combo is amazing!
The rice wasn't too soft or too firm either — just the right chewy texture between loose and firm, which was perfect. Mixing rice into the broth and eating it with the meat made lunch feel like a proper, substantial meal 🙏🏻 It also gave off a home-cooked-meal kind of feeling, which I loved haha.
