On a day I'd planned to eat with a friend around Sharosu-gil, we were both craving noodles, so we looked around and ended up at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch. We heard they had a set meal with both udon and pork cutlet, so we ordered the set without a second thought.

Where is Kosi in Sharosu-gil, and what are its hours?

Bar table for solo diners and the mood inside Kosi
The wood-tone interior was so clean, and having a bar table looked great for anyone eating alone. When I visited, there were quite a few solo diners too.
If you're curious about the overall vibe of the place, take a look. ⬆️

You order and pay all at once through the tableside kiosk, which was convenient and cut down on waiting.

At the counter there are self-serve extras like sesame seeds, shichimi, and salad dressing.
What is on the menu at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch?

The menu is centered on udon and soba. Adding the set option gets you tonkatsu along with your noodles. Here's what we ordered.
Tori ten bukkake udon set: how were the TV-famous Sanuki noodles?
The tori tempura bukkake udon at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch isn't the soup-drenched style — it's chewy noodles paired with a strong tsuyu (dipping sauce). Order it as a set and you get a full spread with salad, pork loin katsu (breaded cutlet), and inari sushi (fried tofu pocket rice).

It looked so colorful and appetizing as a full spread.

For the salad, just drizzle on the salad dressing from the table.

Since it's bukkake udon, it's not the soup-drenched style — it's chewy noodles paired with a rich tsuyu.
Pour over the tsuyu that comes with it. Kosi's udon noodles are thick and chewy enough to have been featured on the TV show Life of Experts (생활의달인), and eating them in person, it was really true. The plump, chewy texture unique to Sanuki noodles came through so well that just one bite filled my mouth.

The tori tempura (fried chicken) was crispy outside and moist inside, and it went with the udon better than I expected. The combo of chewy udon noodles and crispy tori tempura was my favorite part of the meal that day 😋
A tip for eating tori ten (chicken tempura) at its crispiest
💡 Tip for eating tori tempura 💡 Rather than piling it all onto the noodles from the start, set some pieces aside. It's delicious eaten crispy, and just as good once time passes and the sauce soaks in a little, turning moist for a different flavor!

Pork loin katsu and inari sushi included in the Kosi set meals
The tonkatsu added to the set had such tender loin meat. The breading wasn't overly thick and was fried nice and crispy, so every bite was satisfying. If you want it light, try wasabi or salt; if you want the familiar flavor, dip it in tonkatsu sauce — alternating between the two keeps it from feeling too heavy. This place does tonkatsu pretty well too.

And a hefty inari sushi comes along with it — a portion filling enough even as a standalone order.
✔️ Bukkake udon noodles are generally thicker and chewier than the softer udon most people are used to, so if you like chewy udon, you'll probably be very satisfied.
Zaru soba set: how did the dipping broth taste?
My friend's order, the zaru soba at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch, is the style where you dip the noodles into tsuyu. Grated radish and finely chopped scallions are added to the zaru dashi to boost the broth's flavor.

It was impressive that the broth was rich yet not salty, seasoned just right. The broth that lightly coats the noodles and the chewy, springy noodles were a perfect match, so it just kept sliding down refreshingly. This is a place where the saying "soba is only as good as its broth" really rings true.
💡 Even solo, ordering the zaru soba by itself comes with inari sushi, so it's still a filling meal!
Who should visit Kosi in Sharosu-gil, Seoul?

If you're looking for a noodle place near Seoul National University Entrance Station, it's worth a visit at least once. I think I'll order the tori tempura bukkake udon again next time 😋
