Today my two friends and I (the usual trio) had a first round near Isu Station, then wondered where to go for round two ~~ and that's how we found Hiku, an izakaya with amazing vibes and even better side dishes. Here's my review!
Where is Hiku, and what are its hours and parking?
Hiku is an izakaya on the 1st floor of 49 Dongjakdae-ro 7-gil, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, right in the Sadang 1-dong restaurant strip in front of Sadang Station exit 10. It's open Monday through Sunday from 17:00 to 2am the next day.

Hiku is an izakaya in the Sadang 1-dong restaurant strip, 3 minutes from Sadang Station exit 10. We'd already had a first round near Isu Station, so it was about a 10-minute walk over, and we got there in no time haha.
There was a waitlist sheet outside — very fitting for a hot spot near Sadang Station. Luckily we came on a weekday late at night, so we got seated right away with no wait.
What is the atmosphere like inside Hiku?
Inside, Hiku is a spacious layout with lots of 2-person and 4-person tables. I loved that the table spacing was generous too. It's the dim, moody lighting kind of bar I always love, so the atmosphere was even better hahaha.
It felt cozy and calm — a great spot for a quiet conversation, whether just the two of you or with friends!
The restrooms are inside the restaurant and separated by gender, which was super convenient haha. And of course, spotless inside too!!
Hiku's menu and how to order
At Hiku, you order from a tablet right at your own table ~
Looking through the menu, so many things looked delicious — the star of the menu is Hiku Hansang A, a combo of salmon, sweet shrimp, yukhoe (raw beef), and potato salad & sweet potato chips! The Hiku Hansang B and C sets, which add nabe hot pot and yurinchi, looked popular too. But since this was our second round, after much debate, we ordered...

My friend wanted to order it, and even though we were already full, it was great for reviving our appetite (?) hahaha.
How does Hiku's Sichuan beef brisket mala hot pot taste?
Hiku's Sichuan beef brisket mala hot pot is ₩29,900, with a rich, spicy broth. And here it comes!!!
The visual alone is a bomb of beef brisket... and it came loaded with mushrooms, bean sprouts, napa cabbage, bok choy, chili peppers, shrimp, and more haha.

Aaahh, isn't the visual just insane??? Looking at the photo makes me want to eat it again 🤤
Oh!! There was even udon noodles hidden inside like a surprise gift, which made it even better ㅠㅠ It's a mala hot pot, but it kind of gave off hot pot / mala xiang guo vibes... The broth was rich and spicy and just spot on!!! The meat wasn't tough at all and was delicious 😋
Is Hiku worth it for a second round near Sadang Station?
With such delicious side dishes, the three of us went through 4 bottles of soju even though it was already our second round... (you can tell how good it was). While we were eating, two foreign guests sat at the table behind us and ordered mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) lol. That must have been good too... 🫠🫠
The staff were kind all the way to closing and the food was great, so I'll definitely come back! Looking for a bar near Sadang or Isu Station for a first or second round?! Want a good-vibe izakaya for a date?!! Craving a bar with genuinely great side dishes?!?! If so, I highly, highly recommend Hiku~~~
