Isu Station after-work dinner for offal beginners: Baekho Yangdaechang
In short
Baekho Yangdaechang is a charcoal-grilled beef intestine (yangdaechang) and gopchang restaurant in the food alley by Exit 10 of Isu Station in Dongjak, Seoul. The writer and coworkers ordered the mixed grill platter for three (19,900 won) after work, and staff grilled the yangdaechang, makchang and woo-samgyeop (sliced beef belly) over real charcoal at the table, so even a first-time offal eater found it nutty and free of any gamey smell. With free corkage on one type of alcohol, Baekho Yangdaechang works well for a small team dinner.

Where is Baekho Yangdaechang near Isu Station?

Baekho Yangdaechang, a great spot near Isu Station for gatherings over yangdaechang (beef intestine) and gopchang (small intestine). I found it while looking for a place to eat gopchang or daechang near Isu Station!
It's located a 2-minute walk from Isu Station Exit 10, right on the Isu Station food alley. Being so close to the station makes it super accessible! It also has a huge number of reviews and is really popular, so definitely book through Naver Place before you go!
Inside Baekho Yangdaechang: is it good for a team dinner?

Baekho Yangdaechang is full of that retro-concept restaurant vibe. The space has about 12 round and square tables. It looked like a good fit for a small gathering or after-work dinner.
It has that old-school Korean BBQ feel with the lively, buzzing atmosphere unique to yangdaechang places — totally my style haha 🤭

I booked through Naver Place before visiting. It's a popular spot, so I'd recommend reserving ahead, especially for evening visits.
Baekho Yangdaechang menu and prices

Baekho Yangdaechang had a variety of grilled dishes ready to go. Apparently yangdaechang is the cow's (🐄) first stomach chamber. It's known for its chewy, springy texture, and true to the restaurant's name, teukyang grill was one of the signature menu items haha
- Mixed grill platter ₩19,900
- Yangdaechang grill ₩23,900
- Daechang grill ₩15,900
- Teukyang grill ₩17,900
- Gopchang grill ₩18,900
- Makchang grill ₩18,900
I'd never tried yangdaechang before so I was really curious. But I also wanted to try makchang, so I ordered the mixed grill platter for three!

The basic side dishes at Baekho Yangdaechang were pickled onions, kimchi, chive salad, and cucumber-pepper salad. They also give you a spicy sesame-oil dipping sauce that's perfect with the meat, and honestly, that sauce was so good it made me tear up!!
Staff grill everything over real charcoal at your table

Baekho Yangdaechang is a place where the staff grill everything for you. The meat comes out pre-seared, then they finish it off golden-brown right on the charcoal. Honestly, daechang and gopchang are tricky to grill yourself — you have to watch them constantly so they don't burn — so having the staff do it means you can just relax and eat!

The mixed grill platter came with yangdaechang, makchang, and woo-samgyeop (thin-sliced beef belly).

Maybe it's because it was grilled over real charcoal, but the smell of the meat cooking was insane...

Since grilling takes a bit of time, we toasted with our just-off-work coworkers in the meantime! The lively, noisy atmosphere actually makes for great conversation. It's a good place to unwind, chatting about this and that over great food...

Yangdaechang goes so well with somaek (soju-beer mix). Who's tipsy? (Me.)
How yangdaechang and makchang taste to a first-time offal eater

I've only recently gotten into intestine dishes, so as a beginner I tasted it pretty carefully — and there wasn't a hint of off smell, just smoky, savory, and really good.

I couldn't tell makchang from yangdaechang, so I kept asking the staff lol. They were super kind about explaining! Whether you're just getting into intestine dishes like me, or you already love them, you're going to enjoy this.

They grilled the woo-samgyeop last, and maybe because of the subtle smoky char it picked up, it had way more of a grilled flavor than woo-samgyeop usually does — really distinctive.

Eating the savory meat with the tangy sauce and chive salad together was such a great combo. And the spicy shredded chili peppers on top — so good 🔥
Went to Baekho Yangdaechang near Isu Station with coworkers after work, and both the yangdaechang and makchang were really tasty, plus having everything grilled for you made it an easy, relaxed meal. Next time I want to try the gopchang too!!
