Seongsu okonomiyaki group lunch with added karaage: Oshi Black

In short

Oshi Black Seongsu is an okonomiyaki and yakisoba teppanyaki restaurant on the basement level near Seoul Forest Station in Seongdong, Seoul. Three friends met there for an engagement-invitation gathering and ordered the 2-person set — potato salad beans, yakisoba pork belly rolls and classic okonomiyaki — then added karaage and Kirin draft beer. Arriving at 3:30pm meant no wait, and the set made Oshi Black Seongsu an easy way to try several dishes in one meal.

Oshi Black Seongsu hours and how to get there from Seoul Forest Station

Oshi Black Seongsu is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. Today's visit came about while looking for a spot for a friend's engagement-invitation gathering — we ended up at this well-known Seongsu okonomiyaki restaurant, Oshi Black! Let me introduce it.

Just search the location on Naver Maps and the entrance is super easy to find! You head down one floor. We visited at 3:30pm and got in with no wait, haha. Other days do have waits, so booking ahead should make things easier.

Table seating inside Oshi Black Seongsu

This place is mainly known for okonomiyaki and yakisoba, which I'd been curious about for a while — and since it's near Seoul Forest, it also seems like a great stop for a Seongsu date or a Seoul Forest outing! Oshi Seongsu is such a famous spot that I'd starred it on Naver Maps ages ago as a must-visit whenever I came to Seongsu, and finally made it here (so exciting... and even as our first meal of the day). The tables were nice and spacious too, very comfortable.

What's on the menu at Oshi Black Seongsu

The menu photo was taken a bit far away so it's slightly hard to read, but take a look anyway! There's a wide variety of dishes. Menus are available separately in Japanese, Korean, and English, so it seems like a place a lot of foreign visitors come to as well...!

What three people ordered: the 2-person set plus karaage

That day we ordered the 2-person set and added karaage on top. The 2-person set comes with potato salad beans, yakisoba pork belly rolls, and classic okonomiyaki, so it's great for trying several dishes at once! There were three of us.

Can't resist a beer, right? Ordered a Kirin draft... Kirin seems to be the only draft option here! There's also Kirin somaek (beer-soju mix), so soju-and-beer lovers will want to come back and try that. We had another spot to hit afterward, so we wrapped up with two glasses of Kirin beer today (but honestly, the beer was really good).

So refreshing and delicious — the perfect start, haha.

Potato salad beans

First up, the potato salad beans: soft potato salad topped with something crispy on top! Nice and light to eat.

Yakisoba pork belly rolls

What I was most curious about was the yakisoba pork belly rolls — yakisoba noodles rolled up in pork belly. The savoriness of the pork belly paired well with the salty flavor of the yakisoba. With cheese and egg added too, the flavor was quite rich, and it went well as a drinking snack alongside Asahi draft beer.

The karaage we added to the set

The karaage (fried chicken) we added came out crispy fried, easy to pick at piece by piece between other bites, and its different texture from the okonomiyaki and yakisoba made for a good menu combination.

Classic okonomiyaki and the bear-shaped candle

And then the classic okonomiyaki. Being a teppanyaki dish, it came out hot on the griddle, so we could keep eating it warm right to the end. Topped with sauce, mayonnaise, and bonito flakes, it had a familiar flavor you keep going back for, and the generous cabbage made it soft and easy to eat! Also, if you're visiting for an anniversary, request it in advance and they'll stick in a candle like a little event — the bear-shaped candle was so cute... this would score full marks for a date or a special occasion visit.

We had another reservation to get to, so we ate quickly and headed out, but it was a really satisfying meal...!

Is Oshi Black Seongsu worth it for teppanyaki and drinks near Seoul Forest?

Above all, having Asahi draft beer alongside made the whole teppanyaki experience even more fun! If you're looking for a place near Seongsu or Seoul Forest to enjoy teppanyaki dishes like okonomiyaki and yakisoba with a light drink, I'd recommend Oshi Black Seongsu.

If you're visiting with 2–3 people, try the 2-person set plus one extra dish of your choice, and enjoy it with a Kirin draft beer!
