Dongtan Mokdong tonkatsu restaurant, two cutlets split: Kkot Gatsu
In short
Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a Japanese-style pork cutlet restaurant on the Dongtan Mokdong food street in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. The signature tenderloin flower cutlet (15,000 won) and the loin cutlet (14,000 won) were split half-and-half to compare the soft texture against the chewier bite, with wasabi, cumin dip, lemon salt and truffle oil from the self-serve bar mixed in. If you want thick Japanese-style cutlets rather than thin old-school ones, Kkot Gatsu is a good fit.

A pork cutlet spot on the Dongtan food street, crispy and juicy Japanese-style pork cutlet, Kkot Gatsu. I was wondering what to eat for lunch or dinner in Dongtan, and this time I was craving Japanese-style pork cutlet, so I went to Kkot Gatsu on the Dongtan food street.

I'd been seeing this place come up a lot as a pork cutlet spot around Dongtan Mokdong, and I was curious. Once I tried it myself, I understood why cutlet lovers seek it out. Unlike your typical Western-style cutlet, this is thick meat with a crispy coating — real Japanese-style pork cutlet, so it felt like a proper meal.

Where is Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch, and what is the restaurant like?
Kkot Gatsu is located on the Dongtan Mokdong food street. Inside, the space is done up neatly in wood tones, with soft lighting that gives it an overall relaxed feel.
The tables are spaced fairly generously, so it seemed like a good fit whether you're eating alone, on a date, or out with family. Other online reviews also mention the clean interior, roomy table spacing, and the availability of baby chairs as strong points.

What is on the Kkot Gatsu menu, and how much does it cost?
Kkot Gatsu offers everything from the basic pork cutlet to cheese cutlet, chicken cutlet, and fish cutlet, plus sets that pair cutlet with udon, and cold soba sets too.
- Kkot Cutlet ₩15,000
- Loin Cutlet ₩14,000
The Kkot Cutlet set can be paired with udon, which is a solid combo if you want a really filling meal. There are also side dishes like cold soba, hwa-udon, and su-udon to go alongside the cutlet.

How does the signature tenderloin flower cutlet taste?
The dish I was most curious about was the Kkot Cutlet. It's made from tenderloin, and the meat comes out sliced quite thick, so it looked appetizing right off the bat.
The outside was fried crispy while the meat inside stayed juicy and tender. Being tenderloin, it had a soft bite rather than anything tough or dry.
The cutlet itself has a nutty flavor, so I'd recommend trying the meat plain first before adding sauce. Recent reviews also often describe the Kkot Cutlet as a thick yet crispy and juicy tenderloin cutlet.

Loin cutlet vs tenderloin flower cutlet: what is the difference?
If the tenderloin at Kkot Gatsu is on the softer side, the loin cutlet lets you enjoy more of the meat's actual chew. So if you're visiting as a pair, ordering one Kkot Cutlet and one loin cutlet to split in half seems like a great idea.
Other reviews also describe the tenderloin as soft and juicy, while the loin is a bit thicker with more chew to it.

What is at the Kkot Gatsu self-serve sauce bar?
Kkot Gatsu has a self-serve bar where you can grab whatever side dishes or sauces you need. Beyond the standard cutlet sauce, other reviews mention wasabi, cumin dip, lemon salt, and truffle oil among the ingredients you can add to your cutlet.
Even with the same cutlet, the flavor changes quite a bit depending on which sauce you pair it with, so it was fun trying out different combinations.

Who is Kkot Gatsu Dongtan a good fit for?
Personally, I think Kkot Gatsu suits people who prefer thick meat, crispy coating, and juicy texture over the old-style pork cutlet that's pounded thin and fried crispy.
If you especially like tenderloin cutlet, I'd recommend trying the signature Kkot Cutlet. If you're looking for a clean, Japanese-style pork cutlet spot on the Dongtan food street, this was a decent place to stop for a meal.
