A Busan trip really starts with the food, doesn't it? 🍴 This is my review of Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, a place you can walk to the moment you step off the train — just cross the street from Busan Station. It's a stress-free first stop on any Busan itinerary, and you can try two of Busan's signature dishes, milmyeon and dwaeji gukbap (pork soup), in one sitting.

How long is the wait at Sunday lunch?
The interior at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap isn't exactly small, but it's clearly a popular spot — packed with a lively, bustling crowd.
I went during Sunday lunch peak and there was a wait, but turnover was fast so I was seated after just 5–10 minutes! I'm usually the type who'd rather go to the place next door than wait, but even when the line looks long here, it moves quickly, so I'd recommend sticking it out a bit 👍
Restaurants right in front of the station tend to be so busy and crowded that some can get unfriendly, but the staff here greeted everyone so warmly that I could relax and enjoy my meal.
Menu, side dishes and ordering by tablet
I ordered mul milmyeon (small), mul milmyeon (large), and hand-made mandu. Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap has a table-order tablet installed at every table, and you can pay right there too, which is convenient. The signature milmyeon comes in mul (cold broth) or bibim (spicy mixed) style, and the soup lineup includes dwaeji gukbap, sundae gukbap, and even suyuk baekban (boiled pork set)! Hand-made mandu is available as a side too.
Since this is a Busan Station favorite that draws a lot of foreign tourists, the menu can be viewed in different languages. Seems like it'd be easy for overseas visitors to use.
Sauce and cups are set out next to the table-order tablet, and the basic side dishes get placed as soon as you sit down. I ordered mul milmyeon and mandu, so I got cucumber, pickled radish, and mandu sauce to match. If I'd ordered a gukbap, I imagine kimchi and diced radish kimchi would've come out instead.
Warm broth comes out automatically when you order milmyeon. Piping hot and so good ✨
Mul milmyeon small vs large: which size should you order?
The mul milmyeon at Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap comes in a savory, slightly icy broth topped neatly with chili sauce, egg, and meat garnish. Adding in the pickled radish side dish was tasty too. The small size was exactly right for eating alone. My friend ordered the large, but it was a bit much and she left some. Even the small comes in a generous portion!
If you're pairing it with a side like mandu, I'd recommend the small. If you eat a lot, or skip the side, the large works fine too! ❣️
The milmyeon noodles have a bouncy, chewy texture. Even though they're thick and chewy, the broth soaks all the way into the noodles, so they're delicious even eaten on their own. Noodles that pair really well with the broth 🍜
Is the herbal broth too strong for first-timers?
If you go around trying different Busan milmyeon spots, some have a really strong herbal aroma, but the broth here isn't overpoweringly herbal — it's just the right amount of sweet and salty, so it's a milmyeon that pretty much anyone can enjoy without complaint. Even if you're not usually a fan of that distinctive herbal aroma in Busan milmyeon, this one should be an easy sell. Vinegar and mustard are on the table, so add to taste!
How were the hand-made mandu?
Just eating milmyeon felt like it wasn't quite enough, so I ordered hand-made mandu alongside it. Freshly steamed, piping hot, and packed with juice! The wrapper was thin and the filling was generously packed with meat and vegetables — so good. Perfect match with the cold milmyeon 🥟
