Gwanggyo lamb restaurant with chilled-aged 540g set: Hwaro Yangmi
In short
Hwaro Yangmi Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Station Branch is a lamb rib restaurant a two-minute walk from Exit 2 of Sanghyeon Station in Yongin, Gyeonggi. Hwaro Yangmi keeps a lamb-only aging fridge and serves only chilled, never-frozen lamb under one year old, so the special set for two (54,000 won) brought 540g of shoulder rack, lamb loin and seasoned lamb short rib, alongside beef mala tang (15,000 won). Staff grilled every piece over good charcoal and the lamb came out tender with no gamey smell, so order the ribs rather than the skewers.

Time for a lamb refill~~ I went to Hwaro Yangmi, famous for lamb ribs near Sanghyeon Station. There's a reason this place is a well-known lamb spot — it does a few things differently from other lamb restaurants.
What sets Hwaro Yangmi apart from other lamb restaurants
1. A fridge used only for aging lamb

Hwaro Yangmi has a fridge dedicated purely to aging lamb. Optimized aging is what creates that top texture and flavor!
2. Chilled lamb under one year old, never frozen

Hwaro Yangmi's lamb ribs are said to use only lamb under one year old, never frozen. Freezing meat loses juices and moisture, making it dry and smelly. Lamb over a year old tends to develop a stronger gamey smell and tougher texture. Hwaro Yangmi solves both problems and delivers high-quality lamb. Alright, on to the review!
Walking from Sanghyeon Station and what the restaurant looks like

The walk to Hwaro Yangmi! Just 2 minutes from Exit 2 of Sanghyeon Station, so it's super accessible. Parking is free and there's plenty of space, so driving there works too.

Here's the interior. Clean and unfussy. Every table has a partition, so you get a private feel while you eat.
The menu at Hwaro Yangmi and what we ordered

The menu~ Lamb ribs, lamb skewers, and — true to a Chinese-style spot — a wide range of cooked dishes too. Plenty of meals and drinks, so pick to your taste!! Going with a set menu is a great deal. We ordered the special set for two (₩54,000) and beef mala tang (₩15,000)!
Special set for two: 540g of lamb for 54,000 won

The side dishes arrive, and that stir-fried peanut dish was genuinely delicious lol. It's always good, but somehow this place's peanuts felt a notch better?!

The charcoal comes in. The quality and heat of the charcoal are no joke — they're clearly using really good charcoal.

And then the meat! The special set for two comes with 540g total: shoulder rack, lamb sirloin, and seasoned lamb rib. Great value for the price!

Staff grill everything for you, and lamb ribs cooked directly over quality charcoal can't possibly taste bad.
They grill the shoulder rack and lamb sirloin first. Turning a nice golden brown~~~
Mushrooms grilling alongside the meat. Ohh...

Once cooked, they neatly arrange it on the plate — nice touch!! This is the shoulder rack.

This is the lamb sirloin. Once grilled, honestly hard to tell them apart.
One bite with cumin, wasabi and cheongyang chili
Time to eat haha. First bite with cumin + wasabi on top! Ohh~~~ The juices were insane, and it was genuinely so tender. The grilling skills are no joke. Plenty of smoky charcoal aroma too, and zero gamey smell!!
Had a bite with cheongyang chili on top too

Also tried it wrapped in cabbage with wasabi. The shoulder rack and lamb sirloin weren't hugely different — both were delicious haha. Tenderness is the key point!!

They make the shoulder rack bone into a little handle lol. So cute!! This part was tasty too haha.

Last up, the grilled seasoned lamb rib. Slightly sweet and salty seasoning — the perfect way to finish.
How spicy is the beef mala tang at 15,000 won?

Beef mala tang! Loaded generously with beef.

Plenty of ingredients in there too haha. It was pretty spicy — a bit hotter than Shin Ramyun, maybe? If you're weak to spice, watch out haha. Flavor-wise, a solid standard mala tang taste! Slightly disappointing you can't pick your own ingredients, but the variety of vegetables made up for it.

This is dessert at the end~~ Grab one each haha. There were screwbars tucked away too, so we grabbed those. The perfect finish!
Is Hwaro Yangmi worth it? Final verdict
🔥Final verdict🔥 Hwaro Yangmi is a solid lamb restaurant near Sanghyeon Station in Gwanggyo, with clear advantages over other spots. I'd recommend the lamb ribs over the skewers. If you want lamb with a drink, go to Hwaro Yangmi!!👍👍
