I heard there was a great jokbal (braised pig’s trotters) spot in Sanghyeon-dong that boils domestic fresh pork feet itself every day and sells them that same day, so I rushed over. The name is Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch. It is a franchise location, and to tell you upfront, the jokbal felt really fresh.

A neat, compact dining room

Interior atmosphere at Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch

It is not flashy or upscale like a restaurant or anything, but this Sanghyeon-dong jokbal spot runs a neat, compact space. I went in after seeing the standing sign saying that jokbal boiled today tastes best today.

It is a jokbal restaurant with round tables! Each table has a square tray. I later found out that the jokbal and side dishes are arranged in matching style on this tray, making you feel properly served.

Along with freshly boiled warm jokbal, there are jokbal dishes such as flame-grilled spicy jokbal and barbecue-seasoned grilled jokbal, plus bossam (boiled pork wraps), sweet honey garlic bossam, and barbecue flame-grilled salted pork. Country-of-origin label for domestic fresh pork feet

The country-of-origin labeling is accurate too..^^ The freshly boiled warm jokbal I ordered is listed right at the top as domestic fresh pork feet.

Ta-da, the basic spread! At last, everything was lined up in matching style on the square tray,,, including napa cabbage kimchi, dried shredded radish, garlic, lettuce/perilla leaves/chili peppers/cucumber/carrot, salted shrimp, spicy jokbal sauce, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), and soybean sprout soup bursting with savory flavor.

Medium freshly boiled warm jokbal

Medium freshly boiled warm jokbal

Freshly boiled warm jokbal! It finally arrived on the tray. I was impressed that it was arranged by cut. More than anything, the sight of that brown, glossy jokbal had my mouth watering like crazy.

This Sanghyeon-dong jokbal spot includes a proper collagen layer too! The lean meat is set on one side and the ppongjok cut on the other, so they are easy to find.

The taste of warm, chewy classic jokbal

Warm jokbal wrapped in ssam vegetables

I wrapped the most appetizing piece of jokbal in ssam vegetables and gave it a try. It was not cold; it had a warm, springy, chewy bite. It was sooo good with salted shrimp~

Chewy lean-meat jokbal

The lean meat was not dry either, just nicely chewy. Since Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch uses domestic fresh pork feet, it felt even fresher, cleaner, and free of any off smell. Every cut made me smile, really!

Complimentary makguksu when dining in

Complimentary makguksu for dine-in guests

When you dine in, makguksu (buckwheat noodles) is complimentary! It comes with plenty of rich spicy sauce, topped with buckwheat noodles, cabbage, perilla leaves, and lettuce. Nothing especially unusual in the ingredients, but the way the flavor clings to your mouth is so appealing.

Makguksu with spicy sauce and vegetables

I slurped it up, then put a piece of jokbal on top, wrapped it up, and honestly, no words are needed. The medium freshly boiled warm jokbal seemed like the right amount for two adults.. For three people, the large size, and for four, the extra-large size, would probably be just right.

Crunchy chili pepper and jokbal side dishes

I thought the crunchy chili pepper would not be spicy, but my mouth was on fire~ haha. I had to calm it down with cucumber and carrot...;; And you cannot give up that collagen layer stuck to the bone, right? This Sanghyeon-dong jokbal spot was so fun to pick apart and eat! I grabbed the ppongjok cut with my hands and ate it with gusto.

Rice balls that pair well with jokbal

Jokbal, makguksu, and rice balls feel like some kind of set... You can order them separately, and they may also be given for leaving a receipt review, so keep that in mind.

Rice ball and jokbal combination

But,,, do not skip the rice balls and jokbal. If you are dining out at Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch with little ones, keep this combo in mind.. hehe.

A jokbal feast to choose from by cut

Because it uses domestic fresh pork feet, Cheongdam Jokbal was definitely free of any off smell, full of freshness, and delicious in a wholesome way!
